Is the Wisconsin Gov. about to sign a state legislature approved bill allowing Concealed Carry? If so, Illinois would be the last "shall not issue" state.

The WI governor is in his first term. The old governor VETOED a CCW bill last term, and the new Gov campaigned, in part, on the plank that he would definitely sign a CCW bill if it came back through the legislature this session.

I'd say it's 99.999% sure it's going to pass.

Now, the real measure is how many states are SHALL ISSUE, which immediately rules out a lot of the blue states. Don't remember the shall/may split offhand.

IL attempted a CHL bill this session, but the Chicago block (as usual) blocked it.

Thanks for the "heads-up". I don't use anti-virus. Over the last 14 years, I've found that anti-virus programs cause more problems than they help. Never had a virus since I quite using them. Just careful about what I open.

I will avoid <carryconcealed.com>.

If you read the story, it says: 'People with permits from other states could carry concealed weapons in Wisconsin as long as they had gone through training and a background check in their home state.'

You're right. If I had read the entire aricle I would have also seen this statement therein:

State religious groups have said that the bill should have prohibited carrying concealed weapons in churches instead of requiring individual churches to post signs prohibiting concealed weapons. On May 24, the Wisconsin Catholic Conference, Wisconsin Council of Churches, Wisconsin Jewish Council and the Lutheran Office for Public Policy in Wisconsin sent a letter to lawmakers asking them to ban concealed weapons in churches.

"We hold in common the conviction that our places of worship are islands of peace in a troubled world. . . . Houses of worship are places where we don't trust in 'might makes right,' " the statement reads.

What idiocy. As if their place of worship were somehow magically sacrosanct and unable to be defiled. My Rabbi is quite clear on the need for self defense and defense of our synagogue. Much to my embarrassment, I'm one of the last of the men to get my CHL. My background check is under review and has been for a week. So hopefully that will be rectified soon.

A nonresident of Wisconsin who holds a concealed carry permit from another state which the DOJ recognizes as a state with similar standards as Wisconsin will not be required to apply for a Wisconsin permit, so long as their out-of-state permit is in good standing.

This article indicates the LEO will not have access to the permit database during routine stops and the rhetoric that was sure to come:

"It is outrageous when, hiding behind a constitutional right, special interest groups' paranoia and extreme views put our officers at risk when they are simply trying to do their sworn duty and remain as safe as possible," said Sheboygan County District Attorney Joe DeCecco in a news release Wednesday.
