Ruger P89 Slide/Magazine issue

Been having a curious issue with my P89 lately. When I insert the mag forcefully with the slide open, the slide automatically rocks forward and chambers a round. Before I call Ruger about this, does anyone have any ideas why this is occurring?
Edit: And yes the gun is very clean. I clean every gun after shooting it.

It's not an issue - it's an "undocumented feature."
Read

Some folks think it's cool and claim it makes things quicker (eg. during competitive shooting, etc) - I don't personally like it myself as I want everything on the pistol to happen only when I decide it should.
I find it particularly irritating when I'm trying to illustrate the feeding mechanism / sequence on somebody's own pistol and the darn slide slams shut by itself.
That gets my vote too. Those mags are getting pretty long in the tooth and probably could use a refresh.
You can get replacement mag springs here:

While you're at it, it would be a good idea to replace that recoil spring too. I never replaced it and I'll bet RottenApple hasn't either.
