My doctor has instructed me to lose weight because of my blood sugar levels. I am doing well having lost 25 lbs since September.
My 44 jeans are absolutely no use and now my 42 jeans from the back of the closet are fitting so that i can almost carry s 4 inch SW686 in the front pocket <grin>. Really they make it easy for a J-frame to fit in an IWB holster.
Today I put on a pair of size 40 jeans and while the J-frame might fit, I stuck my Keltec P3AT in the right front pocket. OMG, it looks looks like I have a paperback book in the pocket!!!! Actually, no one probably notices but I feel that it really sticks out and everyone knows I am carrying.
Anyway, this is just my miscellaneous ramblings.
I am really glad to be losing the weight and my blood work last week was really, really good so I am moving in the right direction. I only have another 35 lbs to lose.
thanks for listening

Congratz on the weight loss. Whats your method of choice? Every time I start to loose weight, I loose interest and give up. Stories like yours are very encouraging.

Congratulations on your success.lifestyle changes can be hard but you're obviously determined. Kudos to you.

On the pocket carry, nobody would notice even if I carried a 454 Casull Ruger snub in my shirt pocket. Its actually amusing that regardless of how badly I think I'm printing, the public is completely oblivious.

Don't sweat it. If its concealed from plain view you're golden.

Now THAT is just SAD.

I need to lose some weight, but the popcorn I'm eating right now for lunch probably isn't helping. Time to start working out again. I was doing real well for a while and then I start slacking off.

congrats on the weight loss

I quit smoking after 47 years and packed on a few pounds and losing it is really tough. Got rid of the chips and boubon and ice cream ( not in that order ) and started going to the YMCA . Keeping going is hard and I suggest getting rid of the clothes that are too big so you can't go back and wear them.

As far a printing.....nobody notices, especially this time of year with the colder weather.

Keep up the effort and good luck

George

My A1C was over 8 and the doctor told me that I had to fix it or I would have to start using insulin. I just turned 60yo and starting to use insulin is not, repeat not something I want to do.
I have restricted my daily caloric intake to 1500 calories (most days) and never over about 1800 calories. You have to read everything and count the calories. It was hard at first but I guess that it is correct to realize that your stomach does shrink. If I have a large dinner, I then go to bed feeling way too full.
I do some bike riding. 12mph in the neighborhood and 75 to 80 pedal rpm's. that is about the extent of my current exercise. I need to spend more time at the gym and will do so during the winter.
The size 40's started tight but like any jeans, they tend to stretch a little so I think I can reasonably get the J-frame back at 4pm. I use a Split Decision tuckable holster from High Noon Holsters. Very nice and comfortable.
I started at 280 in September and am working toward about 215 as my target.
I cannot imagine what that will be like as I have been a little  heavy for a while.
Blood test last week has A1C at 6.3; Cholesterol at 174; HDL at 38 and LDL at 74. BP was 132 over 83.
Life is good. Would be perfect if I could find a job.

You can use those oversized pants, if you decide to carry inside the waistband.
My wife and I both quit smoking two years ago. Now, we are on what i call the sahara diet. Cause she is rationing out food like we are lost in the desert. 20 down, 20 to go. The first 20 was easy compared to losing the next 20. Been here before....

wileyj,

Just how Tall are you??

I did the math; 280-25=255. And size 40 jeans.

I'm 6'3" and have gotten down to 205 after 4 years of swimming and gym.
My size 40 jeans are loose enough for IWB. But I can't wear a 38 yet, almost.

Welcome aboard!

It took me 4 years to lose 25 pounds. But I have been on the "seefood diet"..... If I see food, I eat it. Portion control, yeah, portion control.

Regards, OE

wileyj - congratulations on your wieght loss. From a health standpoint that was a good move. I am 63 and in March of this year I started to get concerned for my health and lost 50 lbs. to date. All I did was stop eating all sweets and crunchy peanut butter( I could live on peanut butter). I feel so much better and my blood pressure really improved. Now I carry IWB in the old pants with no problem and they are still to big.
