Oslo police said the explosion was caused by "one or more" bombs, but declined to speculate on who was behind the attack.
The attacks come as Norway grapples with a homegrown terror plot linked to al-Qaida. Two suspects are in jail awaiting charges.
Last week, a Norwegian prosecutor filed terror charges against an Iraqi-born cleric for threatening Norwegian politicians with death if he is deported from the Scandinavian country.

Of course, there is the obligatory "I can't believe it happened here" comment:
"It wasn't any sort of a panic," he said, "It was really just people in disbelief and shock, especially in a such as safe and open country as Norway, you don't even think something like that is possible."
Wake. Up. People. Sad it takes something like this...more so because even this sort of thing doesn't wake some folks up. Anything can happen to anyone, any time and anywhere. There's no "unless it's Norway" exception.

I used to live just outside of Oslo in a little town called Asker. Having lived there I too was shocked that this would happen. Goes to show that evil knows no borders. Prayers with the Norge this evening.

Poor Swedes (spelling?) Prayers for the wounded and the families of the dead tonight. It is so awful.
We will have to wait for some semi official word, but I am not surprised that it is likely connected to an Islamic Terrorist group. I heard they were attempting to remove a extreme Muslim Cleric from the country and he promised revenge. When will the world learn--when someone says they are going to kill you--they mean it.

What is truly sad is that this won't wake anyone up. There will be public outcry, and a series of ineffective measures taken to "prevent" something from happening again. The truth is that those measures will have nothing to do with what happened, and will not have any effect in preventing another tragedy.
Those who had their eyes closed to reality will go right back to their old ways. It saddens my heart to know the only thing that will wake them is the tragedy being personal.

Probably going to propose new gun control laws for law-abiding citizens.
Remember, these are the people that awarded the Nobel Prize to Obama for winning an election.
I really do hope they open their eyes and realize they must take the gloves off with these scum.
