Just wondering how often you take apart your magazines and clean them?

I used to clean them annually ( carry gun ). Now I just buy 2 new mags every year and relegate the others to range mags. In 20 years, I have never had a mag. issue caused by a dirty magazine. In fact I have the original mags. I got with my Glock 21 in the early 90's that have never been disassembled, they have had thousands of rounds through them with never an issue. That being said, I know dirty mags. can and will cause feeding issues, it's just never happened to me. I have had to replace weak springs before though on other gun mags.

Edit: I take that back, I have run into mil-surp mags. for the 1911 and .30 Carbine that were so full of cosmoline when I got them that the follower would stick and they had to be taken apart and cleaned.

Buy original magazines not off-brand, brush the magazine lips and once each 6 month, de-assamble the magazine and give it some spray and brush.
If you drop your magazines into dirt, like in competition, cleaning maybe more needed.

Honestly, I've never taken my mags apart for cleaning. It will no doubt eventually catch up with me but then I don't use my carry mags during practice or training.

I clean them about once a year, or if they start malfunctioning.

Edit: I don't differentiate between carry and practice magazines. I expect all my magazines to function, and if one doesn't I fix it or get rid of it.

I clean my mags regularly. At least once per month.

I clean the magazine follower, feed lips, and upper inch or so of the magazine interior when I clean the gun - which is every time I shoot it.

I disassemble the magazine and clean it if I've gotten dirt into it and when I'm doing a detail strip of the gun - about once a year.

I'll clean the follower and feed lips after every time I go shooting. I'll take apart and brush out my carry mags every few months to ensure no lint or dust has built up inside.

I went ahead and cleaned my M&P magazines. I've put around 1200 rounds through the gun and all four magazines were filthy. Since I bought it used, there is no telling if they had ever been cleaned.

You're supposed to clean magazines?

Seriously, once a year or if one gets dropped in mud or sand.
