I have been looking for some time for a larger pickup. I have found a new (2010) Nissan King Cab 4WD loaded, for a good price. Does anyone have or had a Titan and what is your opinion of them?

A buddy of mine has one and they are great trucks. Lots of neat features and he has had no trouble with his.

After scouring the internet for pros/cons on the Titan, Silverado, and F150, im going to go for the Titan.


Lots of great things on the Titans, not to mention more power and amenities.
Plus, Ive had good experience with Nissan motors.

Ive owned a Silverado Z71 and it was an amazing truck! Its just that the Titan has a few more features that i would have liked.

I too will be looking to get a 4dr 4x4 which i can put a 6 inch lift and some 35" tires.

Really love the look!

If someone gave me one I would sell it so I could buy something else.

How about Tundra?

I've had my Titan Crew Cab 4x4 for 6 years now. I have almost 120k miles on it with only three problems, all spaced out about 2 years apart.

1. The fan inexplicably came off while spinning and one of the blades sliced the radiator dumping all the fluid within a few seconds. I drove on another 3-4 miles with the temp in the red before I was able to get some more coolant. I still didn't know what had happened yet. I called the dealer and told them I was coming in. I made it there, almost 20 miles. They found the problem and took care of it under warranty. They said they had not seen this yet with another Titan.

2. Master brake cylinder started leaking. Whenever I applied the brakes it would whistle. I never lost braking power or anything. The next time I took it in for service they asked me if there was anything else wrong, so I mentioned this. They found the problem and took care of it under warranty. This dealership claimed they had never changed a master brake cylinder on a Titan before. The replacement cylinder that arrived did not fit properly, so we had to wait for another.

3. Locking rear end differential started trying to lock on it's own while driving. It felt like someone slammed into my rear end once every 10-60 seconds. Very unnerving! Again, they said they had never seen this before on a Titan. $5,400 later ...

I told them what a special truck I must have gotten for three things to have happened to my truck that they had never seen before. They were less than amused.

Other than these three incidents, my Titan had been rock solid and a great truck. I had a GMC stepside for 13 years and put nearly 300k miles on it. I got the Nissan Frontier Crew Cab Long Bed when it first came out and put about 50k miles on it in three years when Nissan asked to buy it back and offered a great trade in deal. That's when I got my Titan. I was putting about 22-23k miles a year on it the first four years, but when gas went up to $4/gallon I started riding the bike a little more and we traded my wife's older car in on a Nissan Versa. Mileage on the truck dropped to about 12-15k miles per year.

I have always had pretty good luck with the vehicles I had owned. These three things wouldn't put me off of buying another Titan if something were to happen to this one.

P.S. I wish they would warranty the drive-train and all that for 100k miles instead of just 60k.

I had an '09 and it was a great truck. Don't get it for the gas mileage, it's hard to keep your foot out of the 5.6 fuel feed.

Mine had the brake judder issue, but was corrected with the recall.

Remember, you can also choose from the regular 6.5 foot bed or the 8 foot bed in the Titan now. If the 8 footer were available when I got mine I would have gotten it.

The ecoboost is the new Ford. Supposed to be a beast. I've never been very fond of the titan. They don't seem to be that bad of a truck, but from a mechanic's standpoint, I thought everything about it, as far as the suspension set up, undercarriage/frame set up, I just didn't care for them. I'm a die hard Ford fan for life, but I've even been more impressed with the Tundra than others. You couldn't give me a GM, I drive a Dodge at the moment (only because of the insane deal I got), but I hate it with a passion. Complete junk. But I'd give a Tundra a chance. Just my .02. If the price is good, why not, I did. Even though I regret it, doesn't mean you will.

Your view on the Tundra is kinda funny to me. My dad bought one several years ago and did nothing but complain about it after getting it home. He said it looked too much like a Ford. I pointed out to him that it looked like a Ford before he bought it and it didn't suddenly change after he bought it. He got rid of it after only about a year.

I think all of the trucks are pretty good and it's only a matter of taste. There will be lemons in all brands and it's just luck of the draw. So far I've been pretty lucky.

My brother likes Dodge. My BIL likes Ford. My dad likes GM. I like GM and Nissan. Go figure.

Very true. The Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge wars have gotten old, I'm just too used to the mechanic point of view, would I rather replace ball joints alot(Ford), fuel pumps(Chevy) or transmissions(I wonder which one that is). All I know is that my first Ford gained as much of my trust as I have in the Lord through all the things I put it through, it should have failed and never did. It is all a matter of taste. They all have issues, but they all last longer than my hikin boots would. However I think I'll buy a lot more hikin boots before I buy another dodge. Bad apples spoil ones taste for that particular item. that's my mileage though

For no particular reason, I dont like Nissan. That said, a buddy of mine in the military had one set up with the lift and 38's like that picture. Rough riding truck, but it was a nice rig. That said, he replaced the transfer case after about 30,000 miles. This was not unexpected-we took his truck and my jeep into SEAL beach on Coranado on a pretty regular basis just to see how deep we could go without getting stuck. And we climbed a LOT of beach sand dunes. And there was plenty of mud. We always hit the car wash for the undercarriage after every trip, but it just wasnt as durable as a jeep rubicon. (not that it was made to be, so I cant bash it.) By the way, EVERYONE should go play in the surf in a nice big 4WD at least once. Its awesome!

Whoever the jerk in San Diego was that stole my pretty green Jeep got a heckova off-road rig.
