30.06 posting

Do you guys always look for the 30.06 posting? I found myself walking into stores without paying much attention to whether or not they have one.
What would happen if they see you carry a gun even with the 30.06 posting?

I have trained myself to scan & look closely then at anything that appears to be a 30.06 legal posting. You should train your eye & mind to pick these up the same as you train it to pick up any red flag that might raise the threat level around you.

I always make sure I read any sign I see, hoping never to see the dreaded 30.06. If I'm not allowed to carry, 99.9% chance I will avoid that place.

In addition to having your license suspended it is also a class A misdemeanor. Suspension lasts for five years IIRC.
I sometimes forget to look, but I can honestly say I'm getting a lot better about noticing. So far, the only enforcable 30.06 sign I've seen in the 8 months of having a CHL has been at the gun show. It's hard to make it a habit to look for something that you hardly ever (or never) see.

Just out of curiosity, has anybody been charged because of this?

If its a new place that I haven't been before, I check carefully for postings. If its one of my usual places of business that I frequent, I confess that I don't look too closely each time I go. Perhaps I should just in case they had a change in policy. But I don't expect Walmart, Lowe's, HomeDepot, etc. to change after all this time.
I got to thinking and I really can't remember the last time I saw a 30.06 compliant sign. I've seen several that are non-compliant: Rockwall Ford, Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville, Rockwall Goodyear,....
Oh, There is a 30.06 at the Rockwall County Government Center, but as arock discusses in another thread, there is a question about its authority.

If you are charged with a class B or higher (or disorderly conduct), DPS can suspend your license. If convicted, they can revoke your license. Since a Class A conviction makes you ineligible for 5 years, your cannot apply until 5 years from date of conviction. (You could, but you would be denied.)
Once eligible again, there is a 2 year revocation penalty. So a 30.06 conviction would cause you to not have a CHL for 7 years from the date of conviction.

I always make a point to check. Even before the plastic arrived, I tried to make it a habit to check every building I entered. It doesn't take much. A quick glance is all that is needed to spot a "conspicuous" sign. I have even gotten the wife to start looking too. Four eyes are better than two, right?
