Custom Gun Engraving???

Ok, so my nephew is graduating from A&M soon and I've got an idea of what I would like to do but I'm not sure where I should go to get what I need.
I'm wanting to get him a 1911 and have something engraved on the side.
What I would like is to have the A&M logo engraved on the slide and then "20" on one side of the logo and "11" on the other to note his year of graduation.
Any idea where I could go to maybe get this done?
A machine shop maybe?
Then to top it all off, have it duracoated in Aggie colors to make it really slick!
If anyone can help I would appreciate it.

Well, as I am sure you can tell I really like your idea and congrats to your nephew. You can see my AGGIE custom I had in a recent post with my 1911 3" micro. AGGIE colors. The Arms Room did mine as noted in the other thread. Do a search on my name or subject about an Ugly Duckling about 2 months ago. As for the engraving, not sure but there are engraving places that could do it. Do you want the slide colored too? White fill on engraving with maroom slide or just accent colors? Ed Vandenberg might could help with the engraving.

I was thinking about a maroon lower and either a tan or black slide with the grip safety color matching the slide to give the girp a little contrast and with the logo and lettering in white

You have a company in Rockwall that may be able to help you out. They are engraving an AR lower for my SBR project.
Give them a call:

I've gotten a lot of feedback for Ident in Rockwall but sadly I wont be able to complete the project.
The only pistol I could find that had enough bare slide for me to work with was a Kahr CW40, but he DAO I had to pass.
I saw a few 1911's that had enough room to work with but I just wasn't willing to spend a grand or better on a gun that I'm not going to get to keep.
Glock would have worked but I needed a stainless slide so I wouldn't have to refinish it.
I settled on just paying all the fees for him to get his CHL and get him an MTAC for his Glock 23.

Sweet BBQ guns. One day, I will get him a 1911 or Browning HP for a treatment.
I love his work.

When I bought my SA Loaded Micro Compact 3" it was used. That was why I was willing to have it duracoated with black, polished the flats and then did the maroom frame side. It was used and coloring it was accepted to cover the OD green and scratches. Look for a nice but good used gun. Have it customized and that will save money. That is how I ended up with a mine the way I wanted for a bit less than a new one and it was more of what I wanted. Just an idea. Could be a GI 1911 that is not that much, colored as wanted and then he can trick it out with upgraded options. Grips, sights, magwell, jeweling etc.
