While waiting for my new Fusion 1911 in 357sig to come in decided to get cataract surgery and lens inplants done. Have always been near sighted with some astigmatism and while being able to read without glasses, could not see very far off. Had the right eye done thursday and the left this coming thursday. So far I think I will like having this done but will have to wear reading glasses now.

Don't know how this is going to affect my shooting, I asked the eye surgeon if this was going to help my shooting any and he replied that it won't make me a better shot but I will be able to see the sights better. Has anyone else had this done and if so how did it affect you?

Right now with the right set for distance and the left not it is a little hard to focus on anything with the eyes trying to fight each other. Anyone have any suggestions or input they would like to share?

I asked for some input before my August 2010 surgery but there wasn't much forthcoming. I particularly was interested in any feedback on "Restor" multi-focus implants. My doctor told me he'd get me out of glasses. I too have always been nearsighted with astigmatism. Had the right eye done first. Had the left eye done a month later. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied with the results. I think mono focus lenses would have been a better choice and I think you will be OK if you get one near and one far. When I still had my left eye I could see close up without glasses now I can't even shave without my specs. I also have about 40 concentric circles of glare from headlights and any other light source at night. The troublesome part for me is I repeatedly told my opthamologist that I needed to be able to focus on a pistol sight at arms length. He assured me all would be great. I have double vision and it's difficult to distinguish which image is the right one, even with a scope I try to use the darkest image. He now wants to do lasik and I am not sure I will do that. I had the surgery done, left eye in about 2002 and the right done in about 2007. I definitely shoot much more accurately now. Mr. Cotton posted a few years ago about stick on lenses. I use, on my shooting glasses, a +150 lens on my dominate side on the upper portion of the glasses. I just duck my head a little to line the sights. Shoot with both eyes open.

I've had both eyes done in the past two years and have been mostly happy with the results. I can drive at night now and everything is so much brighter, the bad is before I could read most things without glasses, not now have to have glasses for everything--but I knew that going in. The sights on my guns are a little difficult to focus on but doable.

I had cataract surgery about 4 years ago. I am 74 and perhaps the oldest member here. Never needed glasses for distance but got to where I could no longer read street signs although my wife could. I had Crystal lens placed one week apart. I now have 20/20 vision with my right and can read everything with my left eye. Could not be more pleased. I went around a truck, car and house and collected 10 pairs of readers for the blind. I am a NRA life member and CHL holder since 1/1/1996, the first day of legal Texas carry.

I had mine done last summer. My doctor HIGHLY recommended that I NOT get any multi-focal lens. So, I went with the dominant eye corrected for distance and the non-dominant eye for close vision. It has been a bit of an adventure getting used to. I shoot without corrective glasses, but I do have glasses for night time driving.

Pistol shooting is OK. I put a red tru-glo on the front site, and green on the back, so that helps. Shotgun (skeet, etc) is a bit more of a challenge due to lack of depth perception.

Overall, I am pleased. I most certainly see better than I did before. A bit of glare in the left eye, especially from overhead lights, but the right one is fine.
