Ok, this is a carry over from a different post. I wanted to start my own so that it wasn't cluttering up the other one.

I found out that I have to transfer a revolver from me to my dad/sister/mom...whoever is going to get it.

My question is how does the process work.

I plan on buying a revolver and shooting it some to make sure it all works good. I then need to transfer it to an FFL in Pennsylvania.

Do I just mail it UPS to the FFL in PA or do I have to go through a FFL here in TX to do so?

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

You can use UPS or FedEx, but they will more than likely make you ship overnight since it is a handgun. Some FFL's will accept from a non FFL, many will not so check to see. Depending upon what your local FFL charges it may be cheaper to go through an FFL.

An FFL can send a handgun to another FFL via USPS, which is quite a bit cheaper than Fedex/UPS.

Its usually a wash when shipping to an FFL between shipping UPS direct or paying an FFL to do it. Its easier to me to just drop off at your dealer than pack and wait in line.

What about the 2nd part. How do I go about transfering ownership?

There is no other part. Once you turn it over to the shipping FFL you are done. The receiving FFL will handle any further needs of the State it was shipped to. Just include contact info of the individual in the shipment so that the receiving FFL can contact and make the transfer and any other requirements that may be necessary.
