San Antonio Visit

My wife and I are going to be hanging out in SA Labor Day weekend. We've got a hotel around the riverwalk and plan to hang out there a bit but I'm also looking for anything else interesting to see around there. This is my second time out there, the first time we saw the Alamo, the riverwalk shops, the mall, the big museum place thats in an old mansion, and got breakfast at the Gunther House. Anything else I should check out? We're only going to be there from Saturday afternoon until sometime Monday late morning/afternoon since its a 5 hour drive back to Dallas.

Also, Does anyone know if the Yard House is 30.06 or 51%? They serve a lot of beer there but they also serve a lot of food as well. Or any other tips of places to avoid for the CHL holder?

I would suggest Bass Pro Shops. It is right off the I-10 heading out to Boerne.

I would also suggest the Tejas Rodeo. It is a lot of fun. Great food, good little rodeo, and some dancing at the end. Here is their September Calendar.

Thanks for the info.

Anywhere else to check out in SA? Good places for dinner or lunch for me and the Mrs.? Preferably not a chain?

If you're interested in ancient Texas history, go on one of the mission tours. There are self-guided tours and guided tours that you can take on buses. They visit some of the oldest standing structures in Texas. Some are ruins. A few are still active churches.

These missions are solemn sites and very much not the neon-sign tourist route.

We took a guided tour in 2000. I thought it was worth it not to be driving back and forth looking for unmarked sites on back roads. I don't remember what the company was called. You can find the ones currently in operation online.

I would highly recommend either Fogo de Chao which is right off the riverwalk so it should be close to you or Chamagaucha which is on the 1604. Both are absolutely delicious and you cannot go wrong with either.
