Just got this...

"Parking will be FREE with a PAID Admission to this weekend's Original Fort Worth Gun Show!

All you have to do is pay for parking like you normally would and then TURN IN YOUR PARKING TAG to the Gun Show cashier for full reimbursement when you pay your admission to the gun show. Spread the word! "

And in an earlier email I saw where if you say the word "Dove" you get a dollar off your admission.

BUT... I also noticed that ticket prices have gone from $8 to $10.

Either way, this means that if you take advantage of both discounts you can now get in the door for only $4. How can they afford to do this?

They make enough money off the Venders to put the show on with a profit.
They are just too greedy and do not support our 2nd amendment rights by not recognizing our CHL status.

Even if the parking and admission was free, I would not go until they stop enforcing their Nazi policy and take down their illegal 30.06 (or other Policy) signs.

And I am not interested in hearing about their "insurance requirement". As long as ANYONE can walk in and buy a gun at one table and ammo at the other, it just does not make common sense.

No kidding! It annoys the bejeebers out of me that I have to pay money to get into some place where I am going to spend money.

Like Costco. Or Sams Club.

But... I still go. I just go annoyed.

If I need something and a gun show is coming up, I factor the cost into the price. If I need a $50 CAR buttstock, then it will be $60 at a gun show, possibly plus tax.
I can have it delivered to my door for the same money, often less.
If I am going to buy a firearm, the admission price is about the same as aan FFL transfer, so it's a wash unless sales tax is involved.
I have yet to pay a parking fee.

The one that burns me is that the parking service blocks the public road (to the right of the convention center) and then tries to charge parking to go through there.

I don't care for most of these gun shows anymore.

First off, if you want me to do business with you, then furnish me a parking space.

If you want me to come in your gun show, don't charge me some ridiculous amount to come in or if you are going to charge, then it better be for a worth while cause.

Also, it does not make any sense to have a posted gun show. I don't like that a dealer would be willing to set up in a posted place, where his customers have to come with their ability to protect themselves hindered and I don't know why a person wants to go in a place and support it by paying, when that place does not support them. Everyone just needs to get together and quit going to these shows, until they make a change. I doubt that will happen though as money rules and as long as folks are willing to go, they will not change.

It used to be you could go to a show for a couple bucks and actually find a few decent deals. Now, well, not so much.

That is my 2 cents.

I still go to the ones around me. There are very few gun shops around me that have a good selection. I like to go look and hold stuff. If I buy anything its something I already know what I can get it for somewhere else. I dont worry about the 7 bucks I pay to get in , I spend that if I go to movies or anywhere else.

I should have known this post would bring out the "I hate gun shows because..." chatter.

Come on, guys. Like Michael said, you spend that much on a movie. I don't look at the admission/parking as something that has to be factored into the price of my purchase. To me I'm paying for a couple hours of good entertainment that I can't get anywhere else (at least on that scale). And I always find some pretty good deals there.

As for the carry argument... let's play a little game (insert tongue firmly in cheek):

At any given restaurant or shop you are likely to be one of only a fraction of a percentage of customers carrying. The odds are good that you and the others (if any) are responsible CCW folks with a good head on your shoulders.

Now go to a gun show and take a look around you. Consider that about one-third (or more?) of the folks there could and would carry if the rules allowed. Now take a look at the "idiot bucket" (forgotten ammo) at the front door.

Do you really want to be walking around amongst that many idiots carrying a loaded sidearm?

If that last question still has an affirmative answer, consider how many times you see major "4 rules" violations in the course of walking around. If the carry restriction were removed, I'd stop going to gun shows. The risk would take all the fun out of them, and the leftstream media would have a heyday with negligent discharge stories.

If you use the, "I don't trust CHLers to carry there" argument, then you are undermining some of the foundational principles of the concealed carry movement.

The problem with these fears is that CHLers aren't remembering that "concealed is concealed"! If you're going to buy accessories, show off, or sell a firearm, it CANNOT be the one you're carrying for self defense. Too many people violate this principle at gun shops and would do so at gun shows. Your concealed firearm should not become publicly UNconcealed unless you need it for protection or are on property under your control.

At gun shows (and gun shops), CHLers are quick to forget they're in public and start acting like they're in a private club of insiders. Sometimes you are; but it's not universally true.
