Does anyone have a recommendation based on first hand experience for a 4" 1911 in 9mm?
I'm really digging this package and have been thinking about one for a while. In all honesty, i just want something basic. I've browsed the RIA 9mm 5" tactical. Those seem like they would work real well for what I want but I don't want the 5". I know they have the 4" version but it has those dang GI sites. I dont' need that pointy beaver tale or ambi safety. I'd love to have that very gun w/ just some decent sights. In fact, I even called a couple reputable smiths around here to see about having that done and it would have come out over $200 for labor and parts. I have a RIA 45 tactical that just sings and I love it. A super high quality luster I don't need (heh, see also RIA)
I suppose a kimber pro carry II may have something to offer. The aluminum frame would lighten it up a tad. So many mixed reviews on those however, not to mention needing a tool to disassemble the gun really irritates me.
I don't *plan* on carrying it, but you never know. But, I do plan on shooting the snot out of it...

yeah, thanks. I completely overlooked the obvious, replacement staked front sight.
quick research seems to indicate these are popular, and cheap.

American Classic is selling a 4" tactical in both blue & chrome finish. Blue runs about $440-$460, chrome is about $520. Made in the Philippines like RIA, the 5" American Classic II I purchased was extremely well finished and functioned flawlessly. It's being distributed by Bersa and may be listed online with other Bersa handguns.
