As soon as I get a hold of an FFL in my area who will do the transfer for a reasonable price, I'm picking up one of the $50 dollar PSA stripped lowers this weekend.



That's right...the resident AK fan is building an AR.

I'm envisioning a hybrid A2/A4 rifle build. 20" barrel, A2 handguards, A4 upper, but with a carry handle for now to use the irons...something like this, basically:



This is going to be a slow, buy parts when they're on sale budget build. I may not have it all put together for a year or so. But, that lower price was too good to pass up.

At least now I can joke about how I have an AR and AKs, and the AR won't even fire(at least for a while)!

Good luck! It's a good starting AR, something about that rifle system makes it seem right.

Actually, there is a lot to be said for a regular "patrol rifle" with a flat top upper and a carry handle. I think you made a good choice. Now, can I have that shorty AK of yours?

I do like the A2 look. Just looks like a good rifle. And no, I'm keeping the AKs. Just because I'm adding an AR doesn't mean I'm abandoning the commie guns.

may as well get the LPK from PSA while you are at it, I cant find them any cheaper than $50.

Thanks. I'm still figuring out what normal prices are so I know what the deals are. I'm really excited, its going to take a lot of patience to do this slow.

Normal prices are in the 60+ range in my experience for the LPK. Stocks are from 40-400 dollars.
