Keep a Gun inventory

I took digital pictures of all of my firearms

I made sure that the serial numbers were visible

Had to take more than one picture of all of them

If you ever have to report a gun stolen or prove

ownership for any reason this will help a lot

Yep. I put mine in Evernote - so I have access to it wherever I am.

I did that and insured them as a rider to my homeowners policy. Now, if my house burns, my computer crashes and/or zombies attack and prevail, there is another record of ownership and a source for recovery of losses.

^^^ This. I do this too. Awesome, unless the apocalypse happens, in which case, it probably doesn't matter :mrgreen:

If the apocalypse happens, the only record of ownership that matters will be that the guns are in your hands.

I need to do that, I need to do an updated walk thru of house too showing assets

I need to upload those in case house burns down/washes away/gets blown away/computer melts/hard drive motor dies/ I can retrieve them from a photobucket account from any computer anywhere set to not be shared/non-public so only I can access it.

In 1960-ish when a weekend house of ours burned down, mom was good about remembering contents for the insurer, but photos are best

Me three along with xboxes, tvs, laptops, iPhones, iPads, and iPods, GPS, etc. These hot button stolen items are much more easily recoverable. If you can, make note of the MAC address these things...search warrants are a beautiful thing when it comes to property recovery. Can't say more, but knowing your property's identifying info makes it many times more likely to be recovered.

Just did mine, I took pictures of the guns on top of the receipts so you could see the serial number on the gun and the receipt and then my signature on the receipt. I uploaded the photos to Dropbox, which is a free cloud storage system I highly recommend. http://www.dropbox.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I finally did this with my guns and my dad's when I went to see them last month. I just put everything in an Excel spreadsheet so it can be sorted in various ways. I did different worksheets for each gun and inserted the pictures into that worksheet. There is one worksheet that is like a master list without photos. That's the one that I sort. And this page has links to the individual worksheets.

I know what I'll be doing today now on this the 5th day of vacation time. Taking pictures and logging information to Evernote. I had never heard of that site before. Thanks for the heads up terryg. :tiphat:

Yep - inventory of everything (including guns and to whom sold/bought), photos of everything and serial numbers plus personal papers like PDFs of insurance, wills, directives, passport, DL, CHL, whatever. All on microSDs in a couple locations plus one in my Crackberry which is encrypted. I am so ready for the zombies...
