Lawnmower & lost .357 magnum cartridge

So I dropped 5 .357 magnum cartridges in my pants pocket on my way to load up. Before I could do so, I was sent out into the back yard to do something. When I came back, I noticed that I now only had 4 cartridges and that I have a hole in the pocket - the 5th is somewhere in my yard (which is past due on mowing). I scoured the yard, but could not find it. The lawn needs to be mowed, but, for obvious reasons, I am a little timid to do so. Any thoughts?

Sounds like you need to get out the scissors. At least it's cooler now than last week.
Seriously, I don't think it will be an issue. Likely, it's lower than your lawn mower will cut. It may suck it up, but when a cartridge goes off outside of a chamber, the casing (brass) is actually the dangerous projectile.
Likely, it won't go off at all, but even if it did, I think it would just dent the inside of your lawn mower.

Hire someone else to do it.

Maybe a metal detector. Big magnet. Good luck.

Just cut the grass and don't worry.

The danger of a round being discharged by a lawnmower is almost nil. The biggest danger is the round being thrown and causing damage. The guy who mows our gun club complains about the mower picking up and throwing brass that gets left behind. He says that in over 10 years he's never had a live round discharge in his mower but a thrown empty broke a windshield once.

Unless the .357 is loaded in steel cases (highly unlikely) there is nothing there a magnet will attract.

...dropped a .38 round from a loop over 2 years ago when I slipped on a steep slope and rolled me and the mower down a hill...never found it...even with a metal detector...with all the cracks we have in the ground here...may have ended up in China...

If I dropped something in my yard, I wouldn't expect to ever see it again. Those cracks probably go on for miles.
