Looking at picking up another sub compact in a .40 cal. I am giving thought to either the Taurus 740 with 56 rounds through it. Or a NIB Sig P250. I like the manual safety offered on the Taurus 740, it is also the Stainless slide.
While the Sig offers the ability to hold a couple of extra rounds, comes with night sites and brand spanking new from the dealer. However, the Sig does not have a manual safety, but is a Double Action Only pistol.
Prices are:
Taurus 740 stainless 56 round used..........................$300. total
Sig P-250 NEW, nite sites, $349. + $20 FFL +$20 S&H....$389 total

I have a 250 compact that I have had from the beginning, it did get a vacation back to Exeter due to FTE's when it had about 150 rounds through it. This issue seems to have been fixed some years ago with a new recoil spring. It is a quality handgun with a great DAO trigger, a bit long but very smooth and it takes very little practice to know exactly where it will break. Another feature I like is double strike capability which makes it very easy to dry fire and practice with. I did not buy it for the caliber xchange kits that are available, being able to upgrade to other calibers is a plus, along with the option sized grip modules. I have handled the Taurus and did not think it was anything special, and do not feel it is in the same catagory as the 250, personally I would not own one anyways so I could be a bit biased. The bottom line is what feels best iin your hand and has a natural point of aim for you, dry fire both if you can. Questions such as yours tend to be the individuals opinion and will ten to run the full spectrum, I know people who own a Taurus and are satisfied with them. Good luck on your decision

I appreciate your feedback on the Sig P250.
I do own a few Taurus pistols, both semi and revolvers. Over all I feel that Taurus is an under rated manufacture of firearms. I last week purchased a Taurus 1911 .45 and am impressed with what a nice 1911 could be purchased for $499 new.
I am also one of the few people who own a Taurus Raging Bull SS 4" 500 S&W.
Really wanted the 2" but Taurus stopped production of their 500mags after a short run.

However in the case of the Sig vs the 740 Taurus, I think I will go Sig. I enjoy the Sig 2022 .40 I have, and would think that the P250 should be built as well or better.
Again, I appreciate your time and feedback. I guess I just needed some confirmation that I was leaning the right direction.

Just one data point here, but I'd choose the Sig. I faithfully supported Taurus until my 740 (with stainless slide) became too unreliable for me for everyday carry. Not sure about Sig's warranty/guarantee, but Taurus gives a lifetime warranty with every gun.

Sig offers a lifetime warranty to the original owner.
