Why did they start doing a show @ Reliant?

The room was big and about 1/2 full with most of the main players and a few new ones thrown in.

I went Saturday to look for ammo. Neither of the regulars that I buy from at other High Caliber shows were there.

$18.00 just to get in the door between parking and admission. Wow.

Didn't leave in a very good mood.

Doub't I'll bite on that one again.

The big shows back in the Astrohall era had good deals but those days seem long gone.

I passed just on the fact that nothing I really want and have the funds for right now. The 18 to get in has another reason. Went to the range instead only cost me 8 to get in there and shoot . The reliant and GRB are good if you are looking to hold alot of stuff and look but parking and entry make the deals not so great.

This is the firs show I've been to in Houston. Was a little surprised, thought it would have been a little bigger. I did find a couple of decent deals. Found some 300 Wby ammo for a really good price. Paying to park kind of irks me, but that seems to be an accepted reality of Houston.

Reliant has been doing shows for a while now. I usually park at one of our shops 2 streets over and walk, need the exercise anyway and ten dollars is ridiculous. I like that show because it is usually roomy and I dont feel beat up and molested when I leave. I hate Pasadena for that reason, just way too crowded. Make sure you haggle as a lot of the vendors and dealers will lower enough to at least shave taxes off. Private sellers are more willing to haggle if you have cash literally in hand.

The walking might be a good idea, but years ago when they still actually sold lead bullets at GRB shows I bought 5k rounds and a few cases of 7.62x39 and .223, let me tell you the 4 block walk with all of that was almost not worht the great deal I got on it.

Gun shows are not what they used to be for sure and I miss that. After paying $4.00/gal for fuel to get there and back, then comes parking and entrance fees. The good deals seem fewer and further between indeed.

Many of the Vendors may have also decided that, "the juice ain't worth the squeeze".

Nicely put. If the markup is not there then the business is not worth doing...

I only go if
1) I want entertainment and the entrance fee/parking is part of the entertainment
or
2) I want a specific gun. I find that you can still get a better deal at the show than you can at any shop, and it's instant gratification. Yes, you can likely find an equal deal online, but you can't have it NOW online. :)

Also, I use it to get good ideas. I find stuff I haven't thought about before. Also, beef jerky. :)

In Houston, the best show, by far, is the

and it's only 4 times/year. It's by far the largest, and if you get there early, you can find some decent deals.
