Hadn't realized I haven't put about my wife and I beginning a cottage business. Castle Keep Services (Like us on FaceBook!). The idea is springboarding off the Castle Doctrine. Currently I am offering Handgun Basic, Advanced and Defensive. I was already regularly working with individuals, our "salesman" incident made us more notable locally and this was good publicity.
We have now had 2 classes this month and we enjoyed it. 1.5 hours in class and 1.5 on the range. $35 for class, $50 per couple.
I am currently awaiting class placement for my CHL instructor certification class, and being certified as an instructor with NRA (once certified, they offer a liability ins that covers any class you instruct, NRA or not). We have had local businesses offer the use of meeting rooms free of charge, and the range charges $8 per person to go.
Spread the word!

This makes me happy! This excited lady was from Canada. She had never even SEEN a real gun until she moved to TX. She was scared to death of guns, but knew she needed one to protect her family, as she lives way out in the country. She was shaking like a leaf (maple of course). On the first shot, I actually had to put my finger over her finger and pull the trigger. After that, she went to town and by the end was hitting the 10 ring!

...doesn't it give you a thrill to see folks go from trembling fear to "stand-tall" newfound courage when they discover they CAN do it...and realize they won't have to cower in the darkness anymore...I wish you much success...and suggest you recommend 9mm and larger for qualifying weapons...

Lol...actually I do. Most .380's are "expert guns." I have them, in the basic class, using my guns. We start with a Sig Mosquito in 22LR. Watching mostly for grip, stance, aim and trigger control. Once it seems they have progressed with that. I go to a Taurus 24/7 9mm. Really good for this as it has "memory pads" showing them where to place their fingers. IF they seem to be grasping that well, I might let those who want try my Sig P238.
