Going to *finally* shoot my new (and first) AR with a buddy tomorrow at a range that he is a member of. They have a "no silhouette targets" rule (along with no camo). I know that Bass Pro *used* to have the "no silhouette targets" rule but now they are OK with it, and sell them, of course. Just curious, anyone else been to a range that doesn't allow silhouette targets? I'm not going to name the range as I'm only a guest, not wanting to ruffle feathers, it's their rules and I don't feel like causing a stink, etc. Just wondered if others have faced this elsewhere. Did a quick web search and it seems that ranges that have this (or that have recently instituted this) lean more towards the trap/skeet "no black guns" crowd.

Sounds pretty stupid in my opinion. What does it matter what is printed on the paper you are shooting at? Zombies, red stars, black silhouettes, green circles, or red squares...who cares?

Yep, there's an outdoor range near me that doesn't allow silhouettes. Must be too traumatizing for the children I guess.

I think it is New Jersey that state law forbids human shaped targets of any form.

I might be wrong about this, but my recollection is that Elm Fork will allow B27 type targets in the tactical bay, but not on the 100 yard rifle range.

Humanoid targets are forbidden in many European countries. IPSC and IDPA both have different targets overseas.

edit: NRA action pistol uses a "tombstone" shaped target and "lollipop" shaped poppers.

Hmm.. Sounds like they need to raise the berm.

I got scolded at the Bullet Trap for having a zombie bin-laden a few years back. I thought the guy was jokig at first, but alas, my un-dead human form target was not allowed

So basically, there's an UNTAPPED market for anyone with a printer for a new Alien target? Sounds like someone needs to file for a patent fast. (Scoring ... hit the evil red alien heart in the middle .... etc)

Easier said than done. On established ranges raising a berm a few feet is a major undertaking that will cost thousands.

hmmmm, I like that one, but the ones I see always have big eyes and they always have to shoot the eyes and only the eyes! the good news it TWO targets
