I like the Berreta bobcat, my littler 9yr old daughter can load/unload the pistol by just flipping the barrel up. No need to rack the slide. New is $299
So, I just searched gunbroker and found this one: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewIt ... =253135575" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and asking price seems a bit high ($299) for used pistol

The Other pistol my daughter tried a Cabelas and she could rack the slide was the Bersa 644 and I have no clue how reliable are those pisols and the asking price was $250.

Which one should I consider?

...respectfully, neither...both are anemic and awkward and do take a lot of strength to manipulate...but even more effort to shoot well enough to feel confident with, due to short barrel and poor sights...I would buy her a .38 Special J frame with at least a 3" barrel, or, if you feel that to be too much recoil for her to handle(she could try one at the range), you might consider a good double action .22LR revolver with a 3 or 4" barrel...it's important that she hit with it well, feel comfortable shooting it, and even the .22 LR with CCI Stingers in it(which won't feed well in some tiny autos) will do plenty of damage...my first choice would be a High Standard Sentinel Deluxe in 4'...it's a 9-shot with just smaller than a K frame...light and reliable...about $200 on the used market...I'd hunt the pawn shops not the internet...they get pricey on the net...

...that is the precise model I meant...my first revolver...$41.50...I bought one a coupla years back...$219.00...put thousands of rounds through it...had a gunsmith slick it up a bit for smoother DA...gave it to a friend when I went to boot camp...

...they were also made in 2 3/8" round butt...the extra barrel length would make it easier for a beginner to hit but if you find a short one, I wouldn't pass it up...recoil means nothing in .22LR and she could learn...6" might be too heavy and too easy for someone to get it away from her...

My first pistol was a Ruger Single Six .22.

I suggest a pistol that she can shoot well, even if you have to load it for her. That's even more important for a range-only gun.

I got mine a Walther P22. Easy to rack, has a mag safety (I hate those but it is good here) and easy to shoot.

I'm also looking for my 9y daughter. After going to the range and shooting for the first time a couple of weeks ago she's hooked. BassPro has a Taurus .22lr with a stainless frame and some yellow plastic around the grip. I thought for sure she'd go for the one with the black frame and rosewood grips.

Anyway, I mulled this over versus a .25 or .380 and think I'll stick with one of the .22's. Her little hands can't really hold anything bigger yet. It may not be much for SD, but if she enjoys shooting it then it is good.

I can't imagine a 9 year old girl being able to enjoy a lightweight .38 spl. of any kind.

Any of the micro-.22 cals would be a good option for Dad to assist with loading and charging. The kid needs to be able to properly engage the trigger. The more light weight .22 cal rounds sent down range by the young uns', the more they will want to "upgrade" later.

You're right about that. I don't even like my dad's .38 special.

...CCI Stingers will bump up the smack a lot...and still be easy for her to shoot in a revolver...may not feed well in semiautos...Wallyworld had them at a good price last fall...

It takes strength to rack a slide and many pistols have heavy triggers and / or recoil. Kids are rough on toys, so get something durable and cheap with no recoil, no slide, & light trigger. A single action 22 lr revolver is good. Academy after tgiving sale every year sells heritage arms for $100. You can buy an extra 22 magnum cylinder when she is older for $30. It is my favorite gun & I can shoot it faster than a semi-auto.

Beretta Neos would give her the cool factor... I bet she'd like it (especially with the different colored inserts for the grip). Also, the Ruger MKIII might be to her liking as well...

Heritage is a great place for youngsters to start, for all the reasons stated.
