I just completed the NRA's instructor course of Refuse To Be A Victim. It is the only course they offer in an online class scenerio. It was $250, but full of detailed useful information which is basically a course of situational awareness. You view the entire seminar online that would be taught to the public and have homework assignments, an instructors manual, student book, etc. The course would give you much useful info even if you didn't teach the seminar, but could incorporate much into gun classes (ie, if a person is within 3 feet of you, they can act before you can react). The class is not about weapons, but awareness.

Once having become an instructor, you can apply for NRA instructor insurance that will cover you as an instructor when teaching any kind of gun classes (NRA related or not) for $150 per year. Thought others might be interested in this class.

Do you get any face time with the Regional Counselor (online professor) or is it all on the computer?

It is all via computer...you e-mail your homework assignments to your Regional Counselor.
