I saw this posted on a UT sportsboard (I don't know any of these guys personally):

friend's brother got carjacked - w/ pics
on a friend's facebook today:

My brother [Tommy] was carjacked last Thursday night in Houston. He was pistol whipped and forced to go with two masked gun men in his truck. After driving awhile, one gunman took off his mask and told the other to shoot Tommy in the head. My brother grabbed the wheel, trying to flip his truck off the overpass they were on. Tommy decided he was not going out by himself. The driver hit the windshield dropping his gun and Tommy took the gun away from the passenger. The truck did not go over the overpass. My brother was not sure where the driver’s gun went. He beat the guy until he stopped moving and then he chased and caught the other one keeping the gun on him until the police showed up. They had to cut the truck open to get to the driver. Tommy has a few sore ribs and a sore head, but is known the worse for wear. Pretty crazy night, we never know how close to the end we can be.

He was lost and had pulled over to put an address in his navigation. That is when they got him. He thinks he was south of downtown, west of 45.

He had some scratches from the glass, sore ribs from the dashboard, and a really banged in head from the pistol whipping. All in all he is in good shape though. It only hurts when he laughs!

At least he is alive to laugh. Interesting story, glad he made it out okay.

You are cynical. I am looking also. Could have been a DUI and the influence made him see these people. Still looking. This is something that typically doesn't escape the 10 o'clock news.

When someone says something like without restrictions, I expect them to buy all the beer.

Good story, but not sure it's true. I watch the news and read ABC website a few times a day, didn't see anything about this. But yes a good reason to always carry, not stop in an area you don't know, and pay attention to what's around you.

There is a lot that goes on in Houston, including murders, that never make the news.

Sounds made up to me as well. I also keep up with the happenings around H-town via the various news outlets and never read anything even remotely similar to this incident.
