Question for Ruger LCR Owner

I recently bought a new LCR (.357) and have not shot it yet. Yesterday I went to wipe it off with a yellow silicone cloth and low and behold the cloth would turn black when I would gently wipe it. I can't think of nothing else but the finish is coming off. I did clean the little bit of oil that was on it when I got it and black was coming off then but I thought it was just dirty. Anyone experience this with their LCR?

Probably not the finish but a protective factory coating. I just cleaned a new Taurus revolver and had the same colors coming off in the rag.
If you are seeing bright metal and not black finish then it may be the finish is coming off.

Just thought I would let you all know the latest for what it is worth. I called Ruger Mon. and explained about the black coming off the frame. The lady said that did not sound right and asked for the S/N. After checking the S/N she came back on the line and advised she would have UPS pick up the gun on Tue. It is noted I did not mention having the gun sent to them. I just told her I was concerned that the finish might be coming off. Anyway the gun arrived at Ruger, New Hampshire on Thur. morning. I gotta say "kudos" to Ruger for their customer service.
On a side note after talking to Ruger, the instruction manual for the LCR (both .38 and .357) indicates the aluminum frame is coated with synergistic coating which is a revolutionary new coating that gives a very hard, very slick and abrasion-resistant surface to the aluminum. The label on the box for my .38 indicates synergistic and the label on the box for the .357 indicates black oxide. Don't know what this all means but to me it appears that the .357 did not get the synergistic finish because it dull and not slick at all when comparing to the .38.
Anyway, whatever the problem is, I am sure Ruger will take care of it. I do like Ruger revolvers.

I have an LCR and have not experienced that. Do you think the black may have been powder residue from the test shoot?

karder - I don't think it is powder. To much on it for one shot and the .38 finish looks and feels different than the .357.
