Range Report: Springfield XD Tactical 9

I won a Springfield XD Tactical in 9mm and finally got to shoot it today. I put 200 rds through it without a single failure of any type. Ergonomically the pistol felt very good and I do not have large hands. Accuracy was excellent and the factory 15 rd mags. seemed to be of very good quality. Overall, I was quite impressed with this pistol and I think it may serve several of the folks I teach well. (Marc and I teach a lot of ladies-only courses.)
Now the downside for an old .45ACP 1911 driver like me. While the factory trigger pull was okay, and the trigger broke clean, the trigger reset distance seemed to be about 8 inches long! I admit I am biased in favor of 1911's. I have many different types of pistols other than my 1911's, but I shoot 1911's in competition (when I find the time to shoot that is) and that's what's in my holster every day of the week. The trigger reset distance on my 1911's is so short it's hard to see the trigger move - you just feel it.
Are there any other 1911 junkies like me having a difficult time with the XD's trigger reset distance? I really like this pistol and would like to start shooting in ESP with it, but with this trigger reset, my 1911 in 38 Super will get the nod.
What say ye folks?
Chas.
