I have heard about this before...and I have also heard that it is not much more than a hit piece. That has been a VERY popular family of rifles. Don't own one myself, so I can't comment specifically.

I have never heard of this before. I have a 700 chambered in .223. Never had anything like that happen, but I will pay attention to it now.

If you do a search for "Remington Model 700 trigger" you will find that the first thing that pops up (and indeed many items on the first page) are about ADJUSTING the trigger. A trigger like on an AK is pretty fool RESISTANT (nothing is fool proof), but the trigger on the Model 700 looks just a bit more complicated. If you don't know what you are doing in this regard, get a professional to do the work. Saving a buck or two 'cause you watched the video on the 'Net might just put someone's life in jeopardy. That doesn't make it Remington's fault.

The 700 is a precision shooting instrument. It needs to be treated like one when setting things like trigger pull on it. But, it is not unsafe, and Remington pretty much proved it and debunked the CNBC hack job.

Thanks for the link TAM. I have always found the 700 to be a workhorse and never had an ounce of trouble with mine so the Remington response makes sense. I am having a hard time believing that CNBC may not have double checked their facts.
