I heard this on the radio. What they said was that these statistics were only the number of transactions. A person purchasing multiple guns at the same time would count as only one in these numbers.

At then end of the article the guy from the Brady Center sounded like they think the gun companies bought the guns themselves, I assume for publicity. Can't fix stupid.
