How long did it take for DPS to send your package? I'd like to have an idea when I can reserve a spot for the CHL class.

I have been hearing everything from 10 days to 4 weeks.

But you don't necessarily have to have your package to take the class. Most instructors I know have extra fingerprint, photo cards, and affidavits. You can get those done in class and just put your application package together when you get it. However, check with your instructor to be sure. I can't speak for everyone.

I got my package with pin number within two weeks.

Guess I'll start looking for it late next week.

I applied and paid online, then sent in fully completed written application. In thirty days, they sent back a package to me telling me I had to sign the online application, despite the fact that I had already signed a duplicate written application.

My pkg. arrived in less than a week, so I had a pin number before taking the class.

But then, with the New Years holiday and national day of mourning for Gerald Ford I'll still be happy if I see it before the end of next week.

Update........

DPS has now had my $140.00 for two weeks as of today and still no package

Someone tell me again, what was the advantage of paying online? The only benefit I see so far is that the State gets their money faster.

Me thinks some squeaky wheels need to be greased in Austin.

I don't think there is any advantage. except that it gives the DPS your credit card number to be able to store on file.

Package arrived yesterday!!

15 calendar days, 10 working days since I applied online....not too bad after all.

Now, if the rotten winter weather and work does not interfere I'm gonna do the class this Saturday.

Gosh...think my prepaid online packet for both my wife and me....arrived in about a week , 10 days max back in Feb of '05....

The day my wife, son and I did our class was the same day the roof collapsed in on DFW Gun Range on Mockingbird...tons of rail that day! Again Good luck for a great class

I remember that day well. Hope you weren't in the building at the time the roof collapsed.

Not too terribly worried about the weather this weekend...if the range opens up, I'll be there. If it's so bad that they don't open I'll just take the class next weekend.

I'm in a hurry to start waiting!

Actually we were going to do that weekend...however, we signed up too late as I remember and ended up in Garland with Sgt. George Wiley of DPD a group of about 7 I put together last minute.
