Not sure if this is already posted, checked several different subforums. This is hideous. My thoughts go out to those of you who live in the vicinity. Wonder if any of the victims were carrying?

Looks like Teamless posted a minute before I did. Feel free to close if needed.

Thanks,

Teamless beat you by one minute, but they locked that thread.

Such a shame. What a sad situation all around... :mad5 .

That apartment building is about 4 blocks from my house. The front of the complex faces Hall Johnson Road, located at Hall Johnson and Heritage, across the street from the Buon Giorno coffee shop. It is a very nice neighborhood, even the apartment buildings in the area are pretty upscale. I'm pretty sure I didn't know any of the victims. We were at home opening gifts at the time.

It seems that Christmas brings out the best and the worst in people. Why is that?

TAM,

You were the first to run through my mind. Very thankful that you were experiencing blissful ignorance about the event.

IMHO, I think everything just gets so magnified during the holiday season...good and bad.
Whatever the reason, what a terrible tragedy...

I think that's either the complex where one of my coworkers lives, or is next to her apartment complex. I've only been over to her place once, but I remember looking for Hall Johnson Rd on the way there. Scary stuff...

No matter where you live, there is no safe place.

We live and work in Grapevine. Wifey and I were on the way home from family in East TX when she read about it (on the Daily Mail...a UK news site, of all things), our first thought was worrying about one of our employees and their family who live in an apartment not far from us....I saw the picture (before reading all the way through) and an immediate sense of releif came over me....different complex....I feel for these folks and their friends/family. Sad/terrible news. Like previously posted, it can happen anywhere/anytime.

My sister and BIL lived right across 121 from there until just recently. It's not the "bad" part of town, but apartment complexes in the DFW area have always made me nervous. I haven't seen one I'd live in.

I think you're right.

We stopped with the big family get togethers 3-4 years ago. In our situation, we had to drive 600 miles each way for too much hustle and bustle, tension, noise and other {stuff}. There was no joy. Now, we just send a check and our best wishes.
