I need some advice on high cap mags for Ruger 10/22s. I know Ruger makes some and that's what I'll look for unless someone knows of something better. I picked up two more 10 rd. Ruger mags at Arms Room today but I want to have one or two hi caps.

Sounds good to me. Got any idea where in the Houston area? Arms Room just had Butler Creek.

Haven't tried the new ruger mags, I have a pair of machined aluminum ones on the market here if you're interested. :tiphat:

The two metal-lipped Butler Creek magazines I have work well, too, but you can't take them apart for cleaning like you can with the BX-25s. The Butler Creek mags have little lego-ish nubs built into them so you can join two (or more, I suppose) together, but I don't like how that makes adjacent magazines upside-down relative to each other:

This shows Butler Creek's orientation:

I'd prefer something like this (sized for 10/22 magazines, of course):

I have a Butler Creek mag and have NEVER had more than 6 rounds fire without a FTF.

Have zero knowledge of the Ruger offering.

Before Ruger came out with their product, Tactical Innovations was pretty much the gold standard for machined aluminum steel lip 25 round 10/22 mags.

Yep, that's how mine fit together and I don't like it. Mine function fine, though.

If I remember right, there is a 30rd Eagle mag on the "pay it foward" thread. I know many people don't like them because of the plastic lips, but mine has never had a failure.

I too have some Butler Creek mads. They are not reliable to say they are 100%, but not junky enough for me not to use them. I get maybe three FTF out of every two mags. Its not a gun I rely on for protection and the mags are cheap so it doesn't bother me too much.

I've used a lot of butler creek mags. The plastic lipped ones work fine if you just do a little "fitting" with a pocketknife on the lips and the U-notch on the rear between the two lips. wiggle the mag around and work the bolt to find where it drags, clean up the mold seams etc...
