Last weekend we were at Canton (zoo/flea market) helping my folks move their wares. In the building (marketplace) there is a guy selling a 2 hr chl class at his booth.
so this is obviously not a Texas approved class right?
sorry i have been out for a long time, life got in the way

Welcome back powerboatr.
Have you been shooting at Turkey Hill lately?
Just to stay on topic, I think most of the replies from the resident CHL instructors will say that a 2hr course is not Texas approved since I think there is a content and minimum time requirement for the course.

Texas requires a minimum of 10 hours. So if this class was legitimate, it was for a different state's license.

As stated above Texas requires 10hrs of training as a minimum. As of Jan 1 the REQUIRE instructors to document the time spent on each subject you address & 4 subjects are required by the state.
2 hr class will not get it for a Texas license.

I'm sure some instructors cut that 10-hour requirement a little short, and their students are more than willing to get it over with. An instructor I know does it in 7-8 hours. I've driven down some old 2-lane country roads out here where you'll see a run down old trailer house by the side of the road with rusty appliances and junk cars in the front yard, and a hand-scrawled piece of plywood hanging on the fence with some baling wire, saying "1 day CHL Classes." You wonder what those classes are like....

My CHL course was one day, and it was done fairly well. It was a long day, to be sure. Actually, we went over the 10 hour minimum. Yes, it might have been better to split it into two 1/2 days, but it worked for my schedule, and I didn't feel rushed through or under-educated. We started before 8:00 am and finished after 9:00 pm.

I wonder how many violations of PC 37.10 (Tampering with Governmental Record) he'll commit this year by stating on the CHL-100 that the class is 10 hours.

Yep my class was a LONG day indeed, and imo very detailed.
the deep discussions and forthright answers made me feel better when i read the book.
i knew the 10hr rule, but was in a hurried exit, I have to run back out there this week. I may get his info to find out what state class he teaches.
