Was driving through Converse after looking at the lot our house is being built on. Was pulled over for a taillight being out on my jeep. The female Sgt approached asked for ID, I handed over the DL and CHL informed her where my pistol was, she thanked me for telling her and 2 minutes later I was on my way, no ticket, just a quick radio check of my ID and a friendly please get your taillight fixed sir.

I think the CHL actually helps, but I think that a good dose of respect goes a lot further. Sounds like you handled it well.
