Welp, today I went ahead and put a Wilderness Instructors 5 Stitch 1 3/4 belt on order. Upon the purchase of an SP101, even with the fantastic new holster from Shielded Holsters... my current gunbelt isn't cutting the mustard. I have found that while my current belt holds my pants on just fine... It just doen't support the 25 oz. revolver. My current belt did just fine with my Glocks and what not... but I guess either the shape or the weight .. or both ... of the SP101 is making it rather uncomfortable to carry. I went through all my military stuff earlier looking for one of the belts I used.. I know I had a couple of rigger belts.. .but found nothing. Here is hoping that the ordered belt does the job.

By the way, I will be posting a full review of the newly purchased SP101 (at the 150 round count mark now), a review on my newly acquired Shielded Phalanx Holster, and the Wilderness belt in approx 1 week. Stay tuned.

I have that belt in an 1-1/2" version. So far, it's the best gunbelt I've bought so far. But, you may find that extra 1/4" of material to be more difficult to find holsters for. You can get holsters for 1-3/4" belts, but holsters with 1-1/2" slots are more common and easier to find, IMO.

...mine's 1 1/2"...plenty strong and stiff after 3+ years...I bought a 1 3/4" leather belt once and it wouldn't fit the loops on any but my jeans...it might be worth considering calling to change the order...prolly not too late...

Belt loops is what tipped the scale for me.

Have two WT belts now ... Both 1.5 inch one is with kydex insert one is 5-stitch both are phenomenal - best gun belt available

I also acquired a Double Phalanx for Christmas for my Sig P229 .40...very pleased and very comfortable so far.

Oh shoot, I didn't even think about it when I was ordering. I am so used to using 1 3/4 from the Mil that I didn't even think about my pants and what-not. I will call Wilderness early in the morning and attempt to change my order. Doh!

My only complaint with my Wilderness 1 3/4" belt is the clips on my Aholster slip the clips on my crossbreeds work OK. when I use the Aholster I use my 1 1/2" belts. I haven't had any problems with the 1 3/4" belt with pant loops (jeans, "dockers" or cargo pants) or holster loops. YMMV.

Hmm. I will keep that in mind. I am only waiting to review the holster because the first had a screwey rivet that didn't hold up. I also didn't like the appendix style after a couple of days use. Maybe I will review that now?

Good recomendation on the 1.5" belt! If you choose one belt width, then you can order all of your holsters to fit one belt width. Wilderness instructor belt are a solid piece of kit.

I've heard nothing but great things about the belt, so I am looking forward to recieving it later this week. By the way guys, I posted a review of the holster in another thread just now.

Called them this morining and immediately spoke with a real person. No waiting.. no aweful music.. it was pleasant. They knew me by my order, and said that they would change it and ship out this evening. Great customer service

I've been following a thread over here about a new item on the market that some liken to a wilderness, with a lighter buckle, different cinching mechanism .. Just FYI.. I've not tried either belt..

Now that is an interesting design... the molle straps being used for adjustment and all. I think I will waait for them to be around a couple of years before buying one... but definately a good price and good design.

That was my thought as well... I really like the buckle simplicity.
But a few folks are reporting some difficulty with the cinching process.
They look really sturdy, a bit less "tacti-cool", a bit more "hiker casual"..
