If he wants the car, give him the car.

Lovely lovely people.
If he wants the car, just give him the car. You can get another car. If he wants to rape you, let him do it. What are you doing to lose, right? If you shoot the raper, how can we get his life back?
I am not a bad person, but I do hope bad things happen to those who have no consideration for others.

Oh my.
"...just give him the car..."
That might be the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. The kid was armed, who knows what all he was going to do?

Unbelieveable....this 15 yoa kid is holding the off duty deputy at gun point and his family says there were other ways the deputy could have taken care of the situation??? They're upset that this "innocent" carjacker got shot? And the deputy should have given him the car? That family member epitomizes what is wrong with society today.

Yes indeed, modern society teaches people to be "good victims." If you defend yourself, you are evil and you have violated your attacker's civil rights.

The only thing I can say that passes the 10 year old daughter rule is, "wow."

When someone is committing armed robbery, you're naive to think that they only want your possessions. (Maybe they do, but it isn't like you can truly trust their word.)
I wonder if that aunt would have been in the officer's position if she would have made the same statement.

And the report indicates the possibility of another perp accompanying the 15-year-old.
"Sorry, dear. If your nephew--whose age, by the way, I couldn't tell in the dark and behind his gun sights--hadn't been pointing a pistol at my face, his finger on the trigger, and if he hadn't had an accomplice standing nearby then, yes, I would have had other options in handling the situation."
This was from last October in Virginia. The deputy had 20 years on the force. He was no rookie. We never know all the true details from these media-byte reports, but from we see here, I sure hope the deputy was completely exonerated.
Oh, and notice, too, the emphasis given to the fact that he shot the perp
four times. Gasp.
[sarcasm]He didn't fire a warning shot into the air first? He didn't simply choose to shoot the gun out of the perp's hand? Failing that, he didn't just shoot the perp in the leg to disable him? Worst case, wouldn't only one bullet have been enough? My gosh, after all,
it's a bullet![/sarcasm]

I would like to add, I think the only thing the LEO did WRONG was letting the other suspect get away!
He should have used 2 shots for each one of them!
I'm sorry, OE

"Car jacking gone bad."
That car jacking went good for the owner.

I agree this is crazy. She would sing a different tune if that gun is pointed at her instead of the officer's.
