So, mayors of both cities that are pitching an anti-gun ad during the Super Bowl. I'm gonna clean my garage instead of elevating my blood pressure. I'll read the final score later.

What is an "illegal" gun? One that crossed the border from Mexico without papers?

Wish they'd spend the 30 seconds covering Holder and Friends. But they won't.

The ad will air in selected markets during the game
We may be alright down here in TX... I don't see the networks running anti-gun rhetoric that will anger Texans when they can air cold beer commercials instead.. and get a positive public response :biggrinjester:

The teams and the NFL really can't control the network which controls over commercials and content.

I think the more politically correct term would be "undocumented" gun in that case.

"A New York-Boston Super Bowl is a perfect opportunity for the mayors to talk about fixing the nation's backround check system that allow criminals and dangerous people to buy guns illegally," said Bloomberg spokesman Marc LaVorgna.
Sorry to burst your bubble, Mayors but the check DOES NOT allow criminals and dangerous people to buy guns illegally. It is the lack of a backround check because the BGs buy the guns from the same types of illegal sources as illegal drugs that is the cause of the problem. You can tighten up the legal check criteria but believing that it will stop illegal guns is like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic and hoping that the new configuration will help the ship avoid the iceberg.

This will cheer everyone up.
After 23 years of licensing those who wish to carry handguns, Florida has only had to revoke, at most, 0.277% of those licenses for cause.

As a somewhat random reminder, I would point out that Mayors Against Illegal Guns has had 2.2% of its members arrested, charged, and convicted of criminal activities (assuming 500 mayors – a number that is fiercely debated and probably artificially inflated).

Comparatively speaking, Mayors Against Illegal Guns members are almost eight times more likely to be convicted of crimes than Florida concealed firearm license holders – but that number is based off 23 years of licenses versus four years of MAIG. Assuming the mayors had as much history as the licenses, and assuming the same trend (11 mayors convicted in four years – a sizeable assumption, but it is all the data we have to operate on), you are looking at MAIG members being over 45 times more likely to be convicted of crimes than Florida concealed firearm license holders. How funny is that?

Since one of the teams is named the Patriots, maybe they can tar and feather both mayors during the halftime show.

I hadn't planned on watching that game anyway...can't stand either one of them teams. Many teams that I can take or leave, but there are some that I just can't stand...and since I don't like either one of those two, I'd be rooting for both of them to lose!

I love the analogies on this board.

The thing with Bloomberg is the same as with Holder. They are both arrogant elitists. Whatever they do is perfectly correct no matter what it is they do and whatever anyone else does is wrong unless its done the way the elitist wants it done. Reality need not intrude upon whatever it is they want because they are so far above everyone else that reality is whatever they want it to be...and no one better dare say anything different. To top it off, they are reinforced by whatever power they have, whether that be money, influence, fame, family name, etc. And very few will call them out because the elitist will brook no dissension with what they have said. I don't want this taken the wrong way here, but most of the time, it seems as if only a VERY hard fall will shake even a little sense into people like that. Good people shouldn't wish ill on others, but it certainly won't upset me if someone like that takes a fall.

Point of order.

No teams that play in Bloomberg's city made it to the super bowl this year.
