Bud's Gunshop Question (Update)

I ordered a Sig 2022 on Feb. 1st, and was assured it was in stock. They did not actually receive my FFL information until the following morning, the 2nd., and they confirmed they had received payment via credit card.

I have heard nothing since. Their information states that items will be shipped between 3 to 7 business days. After being on hold for a very long time, a recording states that they cannot, and will not, check order status until after the 7th business day.

Come on guys.... One item, assured it was in stock, received funds, received FFL info, and into the 5th business day no activity, no information. Maybe by Friday I can get past the automated menu and get some real info.

Anyone else have this type of experience with them?

I ordered a pistol from Bud's and it took about a week for my FFL to receive my pistol. I thought that was a little long.

v-rog, that is what I was looking for. Order it, have it a week later.

I know stocks were low at most firearms dealers. They had a good Christmas season, lowering their inventory. Add in that SHOT show was just finishing up, and most buyers, both dealers and retail customers were waiting to see what was 'new and great' from the show before building stock.

Maybe soon....

Bud's has a very good reputation. I think they are a little slower on shipping due to the fact they are not a big company like Amazon, etc.

The way I look at any online sale is if you are looking to order it online to save a few bucks, then you have to be patient for the item to be shipped. If you need something quicker, then pick it up locally and pay the extra or opt for any rapid shipping program the seller may offer and pay the extra.

Yeah, most everyone that orders from Bud's. That's pretty much their M-O. Slow, but sure.

I know you should buy the insurance! I ordered a pistol and I never received it. Had I not purchased the insurance I would have been out of luck.

It took them about 30 days to send me my money after they called my FFL 4 times to make sure I wasn't lying.

I hope it gets there soon. :tiphat:

The sales rep. talked me into a $5.00 insurance fee. Said that UPS only covered the first $99.00, after that, it was up to me.

I went for it. Yeah, it was only five bucks, but I would think that if it never made it to my FFL, I would have some recourse. It would be relatively easy to dispute the credit card charge if the merchandise never arrived at the receiving FFL.

On a purchase of that size, a 1% charge does not seem like much for insurance.

On my order with them it took them longer than expected. I shot them an email and they got it out within the day. They just explained it as a mixup somewhere along the process.

Good information to have. I guess if I get a real good price I can live with delayed shipping. Good to know going in though, I'd be a little antsy too after a week with no activity. On the flip side I recently read where Buds does have good customer servine and helped a guy out with a full refund on a gunhe bought that had issues.

IMHO if the site specifically said 3-7 days, I would not be concerned or even try to track it until after day 7.

I realize that sometimes it is hard to wait for something that long after you paid for it though! I constantly check tracking info for every online purchase I make.

Not to bash Bud's (I have only heard good about them), but I recently bought a rifle from Galery of Guns, paid for it on a Thursday, and it was at the FFL on the next Tuesday! I would not hesitate to buy for either of these companies.

I'm going through almost the exact same thing with Buds.

Thursday evening, I ordered two pistols from Buds. One of them shipped Friday night from Shreveport LA, went to Memphis TN, then Louisville KY before making it's way to Mesquite TX and the local FFL. I picked up my brand new Dan Wesson Guardian .45 on my way home Monday afternoon.

As it turns out, that pistol wasn't even shipped by Buds. It came from Sports South, in Shreveport (of course).

The other one is a "new surplus" Walther P-38. Within the past hour, I got an email from Buds telling me it has shipped. Unfortunately, the tracking number they gave me does not show up on the UPS website yet.

Edited to add: It may seem a bit irritating, but so far Buds is keeping to their promise. This isn't the first time I've ordered from them and I wouldn't hesitate to do it again.

Please don't get me wrong about this. Had I not trusted Bud's, I would not have called them to place an order. They have a good reputation, and I have no information to the contrary.

My only complaint/question was that why it would take a full seven business days to send out a shipment of only one item, if all the FFL, item in stock (?), and payment issues were taken care of.

I will continue to believe the best of them unless proven wrong.

ive ordered many times from Buds. Most of the time, the firearm shipped within a day or two of receiving payment. However, their warehouse is pretty big and they do alot of business. They say 3-7 business days to allow them time to get to all the orders. All of the orders i have place with them shipped before the 7 day mark. IT sucks to have to wait, but they make it very clear each time you place the order. If it goes past the 7th business day, they will help you out. The last pistol i ordered was right after christmas day and they still got it out within the 7 business days considering the holiday season.

I just received a Kahr that was listed " in stock " I was notified on the 8th business day that it had shipped. No problems, it rolled right in, but it took over a full week to ship.

I did not like their payment options and used a credit card which made the price go up, so my savings over Cheaperthandirt was very small.

I ordered my S&W M&P 40c from buds and it too like 11 days to ship. I had a weekend and a holiday in there. Once the status went to shipped it arrived at my dealer rather quickly. All said, its a great gun at a good price. I'm a happy customer. I felt like I was waiting for my plastic all over again.
