I have had to read multiple articles to put together whole story. College class is given assignment of keeping a journal and turning it in. 56 yo Man is getting A's and assumes he is on right track. He asked if their was anything off limits for the journal and was told there wasn't. One day, the entry was "Hot for the teacher. Tall, high heels, blonde, nails, articulate. I'm not going to learn a thing." Teacher was upset and the school didn't do anything. Finally she tells the school it is "him or me." AFTER it came to light that he had a CHL and had a "gun obsession" (owned FOUR guns) did they suspend him, and only allow him back if he gets counseling. She says she can't feel safe as he might have a gun!!

You'd think a 56 year old man would be smarter than to expose a lefty professor to truth or reality. The chances of finding a professor in a college English Department who isn't a lefty are near zero. You have to tell these leftists what they want to hear if you expect to pass their classes with a good grade. When they tell you that you can write about anything, the anything they're talking about is only the "anything" they want to hear. If you don't know what that "anything" is, then obviously, you're not one of them, and if you're not one of them, you're stupid, so how can you expect to pass?

Sounds like there may be a lot more behind this than is in the article. If he truly had other women who had filed complaints about unwanted advances, then the expulsion may be valid on grounds sexual harassment due to creating a hostile environment. The big issue is if they didn't do their homework and knee-jerked trying to use the gun ownership as their catalyst, then the university may not be able to make it stick if he never made any threats. IMO, if the advances were there to the teacher or other students, then they should have worked the harassment angle instead of a gun angle.

I think I would be filing suit for tuition costs and any other expenses.

The moral of this story is, don't monkey around with your English teacher unless she starts it. This takes me back a whole bunch of years to my sophomore year in HS. My mother went ballistic, my dad thought it was pretty cool. I thought it was pretty educational.

I don't think we are ever going to cure those who are so petrified about guns that they are willing to make up any story to persecute those who have guns. Of course, a 56 year old student with no more sense that was shown by the reported actions in this matter has pretty much shot himself in the foot.

4 is obsessed? 4 means there are a lot of holes in his collection. Poor guy.

Btw, if 4 guns means he is obsessed, what does that say about her shoe collection?

Well, when quoting a song, you quote the song. The fact that the teacher is too young to recognize Van Halen is not the student's fault.
Granted, there can be better topics to write about, but was the entry truly about HIS teacher, or musings on the song. I didn't read anything in the article the gave real specifics.

It is entirely possible the teacher had other moral/ethichal/political divergences from the student's views, and just decided to take this personally and get bent... and then went over the cliff with her hoplophobia kicked into high gear when she found out about his guns.

As for 4 guns makes you obsessed: I have more than one friend where 4 guns doesn't even cover a single year's purchases, let alone the entire collection. Some people collect baseball cards, some collect guns. Sheesh.

Not taking up for him (as I wouldn't have written it) but it was supposed to be a journal of daily thoughts and supposedly nothing was off limits. In fact, they were encouraged to be "edgy." I would have thought that would be something liberals would like since there are classes in pornography, pole dancing, etc. and they are all about free speech (as long as it isn't conservative speech).
