One for the Money

Caught the showing of the new movie "One for the Money" tonight. Katherine Hiegl is absolutely gorgeous and does a very good job as the female bounty hunter. Had to laugh though when she was shooting her air weight Smith and Wesson 5 shot revolver. It looked like a 637. She shot 10 times in a row at the range without reloading. She also fired 7 shots at the bad guy later in the movie once again without reloading. I laughed through those parts.
Good movie though. You should check it out.

It is funny that the people making these movies go to extremes to make things appear realistic. then when it comes to something as simple as a firearm, they can't manage to count how many rounds the darned thing holds.

I watch a lot of the old westerns on Encore Westerns channel 342 on Dish Network.
Old ones back to 1950's and they couldn't count then either!
A single action Colt shooting 10-15 rounds with no reload. Henry and Winchester rifles shooting 20-30 shots!
We all know a Henry can shoot "all week and reload on Sunday" but come on!

Personally, I blame editing. Obviously, the guns don't fire more blanks than they hold, but the emphasis in the cutting room is on drama, not round-counts. I really only notice in the rare cases that they actually get it right (most of the Dirty Harry movies being the best example I can think of off the top of my head).

The dialogue in this 1 minute, 18 second clip appears to be the same as an earlier
Dirty Harry movie when he interrupted the bank robbery, and the bad guy was lying wounded
on the sidewalk, eyeing his shotgun, when Harry approached him.

SIA, it was the same movie, but one of the opening scenes. The bank robber gives up and then asks Harry what it was saying "I got's ta know". Harry aims and pulls the trigger to give the click of the hammer falling on the already fired round.
This scene was the end of the movie when Harry finally caught the bad guy that had been terrorizing the city.
