So being this is a TEXAS forum, there has to be some people out there who carry inside their cowboy boot. At work, I wear cowboy boots everyday and sit a lot. I know the draw is slower but I like the idea of having a BUG and my boot seems to be a great place.

I've read a few older posts on some other random forums and have seen two distinct options: clip on boot or use an ankle holster. I personally think the ankle holster would work best inside my boot since I could see the clip option causing the boot to fatigue and flop over (mine aren't that stiff). So like I said, I read a lot of comments but a lot of them seem to forget to mention the type of holster and veers towards the pros and cons of ankle carry. I know the pros and cons and just want to know what holsters work well with a cowboy boot.

I'm going to try and see how I would like the Kahr in there but may need to look into a LCR/LCP option.

I used to, wore ankle holster in boots at my office in the 1980s, with Seecamp, AMT backup 380 and Walther PPK and possibly some NAA .22s. Retired and wear flipflops now ... considering what holsters etc to make with 50 or so pair of old boot tops etc.

p.s.- The Galco ankle lite has caught my eye.

Dumb question: I assume the right-hand holster is strapped to the inside of the left leg or outside of the right leg, right?

...I wore for 9 years black cowboy boots...not a very high quality boot...the tops came almost 12", I think...I'm southpaw, so I made two slots behind and slightly lower than the pull-on loop on the inside of the right boot, and clipped inside the boot a soft leather Bianchi IWB holster...simple pouch-type...to carry my M60 butt forward in the boot...the butt was a bit higher than the boot top...about 1/3 of the grip stuck up...
...comfortable, easily accessible sitting or standing with either hand...didn't have to dig for it...didn't rub my ankle...didn't hurt the boot or fall over...later carried a Charter .44 Bulldog 3" the same way...

I carry in my boot occasionally but not with a standard boot or ankle holster. My Glock 26 rides in a leather IWB holster wedged between the seats in my truck. If I have to stop off somewhere on the way to work or home I just slip it in my boot as is.

lol it was rare that I carried on ankle, but I did sometimes, mechanics are up to you, my ankles knocked together (curved tibia) so I never really liked it, and I tried a few styles/brands of ankle holsters, only one was good out of about 4 I tried, , but I forgot which and I gave it to Students for Concealed Carry last year so I can't run look, sorry.

I would think you'd need to carry 2 .44's so that one leg didn't get more "buff" than the other doing all that lifting all day long..

I carry my BUG either in my pocket or an ankle holster

the grand daddy of Texas CHL - Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson (who sponsored the 1995 bill while he was in legislature) carry's a single-action .22 Magnum in his boot (and apparently doesn't fully understand Rule # 2 - never point muzzle at anything you're not willing to destroy .... he points it at his own hand in video )

I carried in a Galco ankle holster worn inside a pair of Justin ropers on Saturday night - worked well enough

Used to carry a snubby in a Don Hume IWB clip-on holster clipped to inside of left boot - also Juston roper style

ropers seem to work bettre for ankle carry because they're shorter than your average COWBOY boot, thus easier to access after yanking up your pants leg

...looks like a tie across the back of the hammer of that Rhode Island size pistol...what gives??? maybe Gov. Perry won't allow anyone who works for him to carry bigger'n he does...

I'm guessing you didn't chase down many folks on foot, right? I can just imagine you having to backtrack to pick up all your gear.

...it stayed put...the joy of having it with me made the trouble to learn to pack it securely worthwhile...I only lost one foot chase...I think the 870 racking put him in a gear my Mama didn't give to me...most of mine I'd get in the hole and go in after them...I loved catchin' burglars best of all...

That's nuthin'........ I carry an AR15 carbine in my left boot, and a pack howitzer in my right boot. I carry one extra round of 75mm HE in a smart carry.
