OK I have been wanting a single action revolver for a while so I bought one in .357. In all the literature and even on the barrel it says to keep the hammer down on an empty chamber. It looks as though it has a Vaquero style transfer bar in it so why are they recommending that? Liability?

My guess is liability.
When Ruger got sued over the lack of a transfer bar part of the settlement was that Ruger pay for a national ad campaign to inform gun owners to keep the hammer down on an empty cylinder.
This company may be going the belt and suspenders route to minimize lawsuits.

I noticed that also on my .22 HRR. Personally, I think it is safe to carry with the hammer down on a loaded chamber because of that bar. That bar isn't just going to flip down all by itself.

I wasn't aware that Ruger got sued over it. I'll have to dig around and see what I could find.
