So I bought a new rifle. remington 700. Went to the range a few times with it. Its always bench shooting. The problem is that it seems either im sitting to high or the bench is too low and it causes me hunch over a lot to look through the scope. ive tried pilling up another sand bag but it seems to unstable for me to shoot well at long range. Should i get a bipod to raise up the gun or somthing? any ideas?

I never had any bipod, till today. I just grabbed this from Cheaperthandirt in Mckinney.

It is solid and you can use it on hunting rife AND any black rifle with a rail. It sweet and cost less than $25 with tax

Practice shooting from improvised positions, it is good for you. From a practical stand point one should use a bench and sand bags to zero a rifle and then practice from improvised positions (prone with bi-pods or improvised support, sitting, off hand, etc....) What is the fun of shooting if ones doesn't challenge themselves. And always remember you fight like you train and you train like you fight.

A quality bipod is always a good addition to a target or precision rifle. A cheap bipod will not help but hinder your shooting IMHO. I have never used the bipod mentioned above from cheaper than dirt so I have no input on its sturdiness or quality. The most widely used bipod I believe is a Harris bipod and I think you might be able to buy them at Academy. Unless you have a rail on the bottom make sure and buy one that uses the sling swivel for mounting.
