Just got back from venturing out to the Rockwall Wallyworld. While there, I thought I'd replentish the .45 ammo I used last weekend. At the Sporting Goods counter I asked about Winchester White Box 100 count of .45.....Eeeck! It jumped from $22.96 to $26.96....Blazer Brass 50 count went from $9.96 to $10.96. The clerk said it had all gone up this week.

This is bad....very bad. The price of ammo has discouraged me from a few range trips in the last month....
There is going to be a Poor Boy Custom (PBC) class in IDPA before long if something doesn't give! We will have have to shoot .22's.

Making that Dillon press even more attractive. Think I will have to seriously look into relaoding now.

Hmmm, interesting. Wallyworld in Keller/NorthRichland Hills was out, but the Wallyworld in Grapevine had 5 boxes when I went by today. $9.47 each, bought all 5 out the door for just over $50 with tax
Guess I did okay then.
Their Remington and WWB was pretty pricey at $26.97 and $32.97 for the 100 pack

Where's this?
The Walmarts in Plano just upped the prices too. Terrible..............
Also heard the Walmart in Garland is closing down its gun sales just after changing over the setup to new cases and stuff. Maybe they'll clearance their ammo?

AR-
Academy stocks the Monarch ammunition. The color of the box indicates if it is steel or brass cased. I must confess that I have never shot the stuff.....it appears nasty.
I have heard good things. If this price increase has occured at Academy...I will give it a try.

It appears that the Monarch 10mm ammunition that I shot a few hundred rounds of last month, deposited enough debris in the striker channel of my Glock 20 to cause malfunctions and ultimately damage the striker channel sleeve to the point of needing a replacement.
I won't be buying anymore of that ammo.

Or create a muzzle loaders catagory...
Don't know if that will be cost restrictive or a frustration factor with multiple target stages...
Sorry I couldn't resist...

Ammo prices to me is a lot like buying gas these days...
We may not like it, but we will pay it...We will always lookout for deals, and let our friends know about them when we see it...
Thats the beauty of our community, we will always be looking out for each other...In good times and bad...

My Dad used to have a reloading operation that impressed me to no end...I've been thinking about either getting cranked up myself with his stuff, or getting him to get his reloading bench back up and running...
I believe I am in a position to offer help, and having a need at the same time in that case...
I figure pick the 3-4 main calibers we need and start turning it out...
All I think we need is a steady supply of bullets, cases, primers and powder...The rest is academic...I don't even thing there is much to do after that but pull the lever...The reloading data my Dad has is already figured out...
It'll be something to discuss at the TSRA convention in a couple of weeks...

OK I could not believe a price increase. Especially here in a small North Texas town. Sure nuff', ammo price adjustment happened 2 days ago. Not much on 22's . Less than a dollar. Larger calibers adjusted just a couple of bucks. But the counter associate assured me there will be a steady increase in prices for a while.
