I've been looking for a decent .22 double action revolver in the $300 price range to use in my training classes.

I don't need an heirloom K-22 with box and papers, just a .22 revolver with a good double action.

The new Taurus revolvers take both fingers on the trigger to get the hammer to move.

S&W's are $400+ and Colts are somewhere in orbit around Uranus.

Ruger offers the SP1010 and the LCR in 22LR.
Both are DA revolvers.

Thanks, but not close to $300 these days, especially after shipping/transfer fees

I'm just whining and grousing cause I can't afford a Smith or a Colt.

You might search for used Harrington Richardson or High Standard Sentinel at places like GunBroker.

Truth be known, I have an old, family Sentinel, but after two trips to the gunsmith it's still light striking and I don't know how to fix it myself.

I can't remember what type hammer spring the Sentinels use - did the smith replace it?
Edit: Uses a coil spring. If the hammer is not binding and there are no problems with hammer parts or spring guide it may be the spring. Numrich has them for $3.85. My dad had a Sentinel made for JC Higgins and it was the first pistol I shot.

I know it's a coil and the alloy frame design is a pain to work on.

My gunsmith has a bone to pick with them for reasons unknown to me.

all modern double action revolvers are going to have stiff triggers to prevent lawsuits. have you tried single action revolvers?

I have a pair of these. One in .38Spl and one .22LR. I think my dad paid around $40 each for them. Collectors Firearms has a .22LR Officer's Model listed for $900.

I regret not buying a Colt Diamondback in .38Spl and .22LR when they were available new.

Stiff triggers on DA revolvers are due to poor design and workmanship rather than a fear of lawsuits.
