I don't put much stock into what a guy with a fake Russian accent says.

No one is a bigger Glock fan than me but;
1. I've seen what happens to a polymer receiver when a .45 hits it. No it wasn't mine.
2. I don't know how well any gun would do in a red hot furnace, but I'm pretty sure a polymer lower would melt.
3. I'm not sure any gun that was blown to kingdom come would function properly. I sure wouldn't want to be the one to pick it up and fire it.
4. Anybody who destroys a perfectly good gun (regardless of brand) to make a YouTube video is an idiot.

Agree minus #4. If he makes more money from ad revenue for the video than it cost to buy the gun, he is far from an idiot.

#4 - If "if" can be removed then I agree with you. Maybe I missed something in the video but I did not see any sponsors or advertisement. I did see a twitter link and a Facebook link but no dot com link. It looks like you can by his t-shirt on a shirt website, but if a spent $20 you could by mine from them too.
Just looked at his FB page - claims to be ex KGB, actor, and director. His FB page has less hits/responses than mine and I've never done a YouTube video.

I'm curious because I've seen a couple other videos by this same guy.....is he really Russian, or is that just an act? I genuinely don't know.

It's just an act.
I think he is from somewhere in Georgia.
If I remember correctly he started out as FPSKyle on YouTube doing reviews of weapons from games like Call of Duty.
Then he got the idea to start reviewing guns from his already extensive personal collection and from there his channel grew and people lent him other guns to make other videos with.
If you do enough digging you can find the rest of the story I'm sure. It would make Paul Harvey proud.
It won't show up on your phone but if you watch from a computer there is a little box that pops up in the video screen, most people delete it without a second thought or even looking at it, this is your andertisement.
Not to mention those annoying commercials you get before some videos.

LOL... I just posted the video for fun more than anything. I was not expecting the scientific in depth analysis of the dudes accent. I have a Russian service tech. the darned guy has been in the country for 30 years and still has that accent. It cracks us up. Money is relative. One guys 500 bucks is another guys 50 bucks. Maybe the guy has money???
Regardless... that gun sure took a lot of abuse before it quit working.
On a different topic...sort of... someone mentioned the guy was from Georgia. Isn't that where the Glock distributership is for America? They get blemished, or less than perfect guns all the time. they sell them to certain dealers as blemished and then the dealers can sell them on the cheap. I know of one dealer from Georgia who is always selling blemished glocks on gun broker for about a hundred less than new. They have not even been fired. I bought one of them and all that was wrong was the finish was not perfect. Maybe that was a "blemished" glock or something... I dunno... just a thought.

I also found it fitting that he was blasting it with a 1911. The only weapon worthy of the task !

Not Russian. There used to be a Wikipedia page that detailed some of the history - pretty much what MedicMan218 reports. But it looks like it has been deleted:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FPSRussia" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Either way, shooting that gun (and ice) at close range without even eye protection constitutes moron status for me. I lost all respect I had for him ... which was essentially zero anyway although I did enjoy his minigun videos. lol

THIS
shooting into ground and gun at point blank range with no eye protection (nor visible ear protection - though obviously could've been wearing plugs)
then to top it off ...
shooting at exploding target from a relatively short distance with no eye/ear protection either
