Traditionalist? I am probably a traditionalist. I like wood stocks on a rifle, but the AR-15 was introduced with a polymer stock and forearm. So a traditional AR-15 should be plastic, not wood and steel.

WB, I guess you have a point there Maybe I should have said "old school". I recall vividly when we got a shipment from Colt of about 200 guns which included the AR's back in the 60's. I thought it was THE UGLIEST thing I'd ever seen or held. Now I think they are beautiful! I still like wood and steel though! Can't imagine my Daly O/U with a plastic stock. I have a Monkey Wards 12ga break open single shot that belonged to my dad with a plastic stock. Probably from the 30+s or 40's. They tried to add some dark swirl patterns to make it look like wood; I doubt anyone would have bought black plastic. Man does that thing kick!

Black synthetic stocks for classic military weapons like M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, Mosin Nagants, Mausers, etc. That ain't right either

AKs and modern bolt actions are about the only rifles that can get away with either wood or synthetic. Most other rifles look funky in one or the other.

Wood just doesn't belong on an AR15.
