Once again visiting your fine state, updates?

Come late May I will once again be visiting the state of Texas, specifically the northen part of Dallas. Last year coming in, I was stopped in Hunt County by a deputy on a fishing trip, he did not beleive the PA permit was valid in TX but after a few minutes he let me off because he said I did not need the permit in the car anyways. That out of the way, have there been any changes on what someone visiting TX should know while armed? I understand that their are the 30.06 signs, I remember my hotel last year had a sign that everyone said I could ignore since my PA permit was valid, staying at the same place again. I just do not want any suprises. I know no opencarry. Thanks in advance.

It pains me when I read an officer believes or thinks something is illegal instead of finding out and learning the law.

I have a non-resident Florida license. I often wonder what might happen in the event of a traffic stop.

Assuming the car isn't stolen or anything like that, you're covered under MPA if you're stopped for simple speeding or a broken light.

(2) inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle or watercraft that is owned by the person or under the person's control.
(a-1) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun in a motor vehicle or watercraft that is owned by the person or under the person's control at any time in which:
(1) the handgun is in plain view; or
(2) the person is:
(A) engaged in criminal activity, other than a Class C misdemeanor that is a violation of a law or ordinance regulating traffic or boating;
(B) prohibited by law from possessing a firearm; or
(C) a member of a criminal street gang, as defined by Section 71.01.
(a-2) For purposes of this section, "premises" includes real property and a recreational vehicle that is being used as living quarters, regardless of whether that use is temporary or permanent. In this subsection, "recreational vehicle" means a motor vehicle primarily designed as temporary living quarters or a vehicle that contains temporary living quarters and is designed to be towed by a motor vehicle. The term includes a travel trailer, camping trailer, truck camper, motor home, and horse trailer with living quarters.
(a-3) For purposes of this section, "watercraft" means any boat, motorboat, vessel, or personal watercraft, other than a seaplane on water, used or capable of being used for transportation on water.
(b) Except as provided by Subsection (c), an offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.
(c) An offense under this section is a felony of the third degree if the offense is committed on any premises licensed or issued a permit by this state for the sale of alcoholic beverages.

Now RPB - that's a little harsh... Its just that they don't trust us to have guns and know how to be safe...

Pet peeve warning
Everything is legal, unless there is a law against it. Therefore if a LEO is not sure that there is a law against my doing something, shouldn't he/she assume it is legal, instead of assuming it is illegal?
Obviously, it would be best if every single LEO actually educated themselves on the laws they are tasked to enforce (seems like a pretty essential part of the job). I'm fine if they fail to learn 1-2% of the really odd and non-critical laws, but if they are going to choose to not be fully educated / 100% certain, then the default should be that an activity is legal unless they know of a law that specifically prohibits said activity. If this default concerns the LEO, then check with a colleague / your boss to be sure.
Is this asking too much?

If my experience from 3-4 years ago is any indication, NOTHING will happen out of the ordinary.
I have a TX CHL now, but back then, only FL (with a TX DL). LEO didn't bat an eye.. Southlake PD.

That is nice to know. It will be only a week or so from now and I will have my Texas license.

I hear they have wild boar and snakes trained to sniff out CHLs, so I stay away and don't give them any money to visit their properties where I am forced to be defenseless
Once that changes, there's lots of places I'll pay to go around Dallas/Waco/ etc once they treat me like an adult like at all other parks/lakes etc.
