My buddy was taking his CHL shooting test with the Kahr CM9. After the first 25 shots it stovepipes 3 shots in a row, then it shot one okay and then the trigger kept getting stuck. He had to shoot the last 20 round by pulling the trigger, firing, pushing it forward and repeat.... He took it home and cleaned it and dry fired it about 50 times and didn't have any issues after that.... I asked if he hadn't cleaned it in a while but he had just bought it last week and had only put about 150 rounds through it...

Anyone else ever have this issue with a CM9?

Unless they have changed since I bought my Kahrs long ago, their instruction manual indicates to expect some malfunctions for the first 200 rounds "breaking in".

That is one of my pet pieves: People who bring an unproven gun to CHL class, some even totally unfired.

Have a PM9 (basically the same gun.) I had a couple of fail to feeds within the first 200 rounds, but have had zero issues since, and probably 2000 rounds downrange.

The owners manual explicitly says the gun is to be considered "unrelaiable" until after 200 rounds.

I've purchased three Kahrs...one used and two new in the box. The used gun (PM9) has been flawless. Of the two new guns, one (CW9) has been perfect from the first round. The other (CW45) really has required break-in.

I just bought a CM9 myself and took it to the range a week ago to wring it out and run the prescribed 200 or so rounds through it. After about 125 rounds of Winchester White Box, the trigger began to fail to reset every time. I took the gun apart, and it was FILTHY inside!!! WWB is NOT very clean ammo! I sprayed the gun clean, inside and out, lightly lubed it, and headed back to my firing lane. My CM9 fired the rest of my WWB (about 75 more rounds) and a box of Hornady Critical Defense with no further issues.

My bet is that your buddy either:
a. didn't clean and lube his new pistol before shooting the initial 150 rounds.
b. didn't clean and lube his new pistol after shooting the initial 150 rounds.
c. didn't clean and lube his new pistol before OR after l shooting the initial 150 rounds.

If he did not clean it before initially shooting it and after the 150 rounds it sounds like an open and shut case of user error. If people do not want to properly maintain their equipment then they can and should expect problems.

The Kahrtalk.com forums have multiple stories of this scenario for the cm9. They usually work themselves out, and Kahr's customer service seems pretty good about fixing issues that dont go away on their own.

The problems are frequent enough that I've decided against buying a cm9 for myself, however. I just dont want to risk the hassle when there are guns which for the same price will shoot reliably out of the box.

i bought a pm9 last year and took it out to the range with 200 rounds to start the break in. I couldnt get through all 200 in one go because it was killing my hand.
But I can say until i hit the 200-250 round mark i would get at least 1-2 fail to feeds every 50 rounds or so.... since then i've had no issues.

I did also found that the extended magazine wasn't as reliable, many of my issues were related to that magazine. the flush fit mag is flawless.
