I am trying to find a new CLP (I currently use Break Free) because Break Free is upsetting my wife's "sensibilities" (she's pregnant and now some things that she used to like she can't stand). Any help concerning the pros/cons of each would be great.

Ballistol is going to either make her happy or make her hurl.

Gunzilla is another good water based CLP product with no objectionable odors.

Hoppe's elite is a water based cleaner which also has just about zero odor, but it's not a CLP - you still have to follow it with a lube / protectant.

I've used Gunzilla, FrogLube, and Hoppe's Elite and like them all. Gunzilla is the most economical, and my unscientific impression is that FrogLube is a bit slipperier.

You can't go wrong with any of these products.

"Pregnant" - magic word meaning wife gets anything she wants.

Froglube has very little smell and is advertised as being made of safe, "food grade" , materials.
Mrs DocV doesn't even realize I have been using it.

Well, I got a delivery of Eezox last night and will be looking forward to seeing what I think of it when I clean this weekend.

Froglube works well and has a minty smell to it. Ive switched my 1911 over to it from grease and its noticeably easier to clean. Probably worth a try.

Froglube. It leaves the teeth whiter and the breath fresher!

Do y'all have a preference for the liquid or paste? I thinking might use this on the hand-guns as the Hoppes #9 can linger for a few days which isn't necessarily a good thing at work... That and my wife might let me clean-up inside! ;)

In my limited trials I would say it depends...the paste makes a good 1911 lube. The liquid seems better for an AR. Real CLP has better cleaning properties on a dirty gun but in my experience froglube makes cleaning easier due to the fact that the waxy stuff repels the carbon.

+1 for Gunzilla. CLP was bothering my wife too.

I've been using it for a few years now and have been very impressed with the results.

I'm a little puzzled as to why Jumping Frog does not use Frog Lube.
