Just who is this director's designee in the geographical area of applicants residence that conducts the background investigation?
County Sheriff, F.B.I., Local Police?
Just curious now since its all over with.

The FBI does not get involved in State or local issues such as CHLs.
The Director of DPS has no authority over local PDs or Sheriffs, so that leaves DPS to [abbreviated profanity deleted] it themselves.
