I was on the academy site the other day and noticed they are selling redjacket firearms junk. I havent seen anyone on these online forums who accually think they make a decent gun.

I don't know if they're junk or not, but I do know you're paying for the name as much as for the product.

I don't really know. I'd never heard of them before the TV show, but I don't get out much.

They were known for putting out quality AKs long before they got a show. I think their AR is a few hundred bucks over priced.

I can tell you this much. Some of the stuff I have seen them do to and with guns they obviously knew little to nothing about make them seem very amateurish to me.

Tiger McKey chose them to build his "Katana" AR15s prior to the show going on the air, but while they were filming, so I assume they did quality work back then. Now days, you never know.

I saw the Red Jacket AR in Academy a few months ago.
It was a typical tricked out M4 and about $300 more than any other AR in the place.
It did have Red Jacket's logo on the side.

The question that comes to mind is that logo worth $300? There is just so much you can do to an AR above what comes with a quality, name brand, mass produced gun before you are throwing good money away. $300 will buy a lot of ammo.

ARs are one of the few guns where the name usually means diddly. You can build a parts gun from the quality parts that shoots as well as a 3k Les Baer or POF. They are so simple and modular that a name just isnt worth it to me anyway. Unless it says Glock, then it is tupperware trash.....heh heh heh....

This exactly. I'd heard of people liking their AKs from RJ, but after seeing the show.... :???: I wouldn't use them.
